Resident ā€¢ 2010 - 2011

The laundry room is probably the biggest (at least the most constant) rip-off. Four dollars per load (two for washing, two for drying)... if you're lucky. Chances are the dryers won't completely dry your clothes and you'll have to keep feeding money into the machine... even with small loads. Good luck trying to get a refund. The elevators are slow and often break down. Come time to renew your lease, expect a significant rate increase (by at least a couple of hundred dollars). Maintenance is slow to respond, which you'll learn quickly because the building is literally falling apart. It's an old building, so it's to be expected, but response time is atrocious. If you get two separate cases of black mold like I did, don't expect maintenance to respond to the first phone call, even if it presents a health risk. My upstairs neighbor had a pipe rupture one weekend so my bathroom flooded. They didn't want maintenance to fix it until Monday so I spent the weekend changing out the drip bucket, then three days waiting for them to fix the water damage in my bathroom. Security makes it extremely inconvenient for guests to come in, let alone a pizza delivery man. Be sure to advise your guests to obtain the overnight pass if they're going to spend the night. Towing occurs. Here's how they nickel and dime you: I already discussed the laundry. Want to park here? $10 a month. Want to use the nice gym? It'll cost you extra. The free gym is nothing to rave about (then again, neither is the "nice" gym). Want a washer and dryer in your apartment? Live in tower one and pay an extra $60 a month. Accidentally lock your keys in the apartment? Maintenance charges you to let you in. More if it's the evening or the weekend. Forget about the high prices in the "convenience store." There are positives to living here. Great location, friendly neighbors. That's about all I can think about right now. The bottom line is, I will be moving out at the end of this lease. There is nothing luxury about this place.
