Burke Shire Commons is certainly not the worst apartment complex in the area, but I would not recommend them to anyone unless you were absolutely desperate. During my three years as a tenant of Burke Shire Commons, the community saw massive improvements in appearance. However, while the outside got a major facelift, the inside of my apartment was severely outdated. The rent increased every year, regardless of the fact that the only renovations that were done were on the outside of the apartment. Additionally, the move-out process was not the best. We were told that paying for a professional cleaning was the way to go to avoid additionally fees. We paid for the cleaning and were still charged with exorbinant fess for what most would consider normal wear and tear. When we attempted to clean things, such as scuffs on the walls, it actually made the marks worse and the paint was seemingly coming off because of our attempts to clean. Additionally you can hear all of your neighbors at all hours of the day. The walls are thin and the ceilings/floors do a terrible job of stopping sound from going into neighboring apartments. The staff is generally nice and friendly, but staff retention is not the greatest. So even though a staff member was quick to learn who you were, they would be gone within a few months. The maintence department fixed all of our problems, but timliness was not their strong suit. Finally, parking at the complex was poor. It's hard for me to justify paying $15 for parking when I was forced to park halfway across the complex anytime I came home after 7/8 pm.
