Resident 2004

11/13/2004

I have been living at the Cedars for a year now. I had to move to Chesapeake from a GREAT complex in VA Beach due to traffic in the area. The 27 mile commute was murder! Anyway, I was hesitant to leave my Va Beach apartment because it's tough to find a decent place for a decent rent these days, but the Cedars has been great. In Chesapeake, I think their rental rate is above average (most places charge at least $675 or so), the grounds are kept clean and there is ample parking (which seems to be tough to find in VA!). I have found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. I have only had to have maintenance out one time, but they had them out in about three hours from when I called (during business hours). I have had minor issues with bugs (spiders mainly), but that's to be expected from a first-floor apartment...you can't avoid that no matter where you go!
I haven't had a chance to check out the pool (extremely busy), but it appeared to be well-kept this summer. They have parties on occasion for residents and their kids (a Halloween party and a summer one)and encourage a community connection that most apartments don't really seem to care about.
My boyfriend chose to live in another complex in Ches. with his roommate even though I recommended the Cedars. He is now wishing he'd gone with my recommendation because his place (Ivystone)has been terrible. In March, we're planning on moving into a 2 bedroom here at the Cedars, so we'll BOTH be happy now.

Sorry this was long, but I know how tough it is to find an apartment complex where you don't just have a $ on your head....the staff here knows me by name and is attentive to my needs. I've been happy here and hope to stay here as long as apartment living is where I've got to be.

Thanks Cedars, for providing a great option for those of us who can't afford a house yet!

TJ

P.S. The lake in the middle of the complex is a very soothing thing to look at while walking around the complex....makes you feel less like you're at an apartment complex. I enjoy that view (and the wildlife too!)
