Resident 2009 - 2010

8/29/2010

Although incurring a huge rent increase after a year, I renewed simply because it was cheaper to stay and pay the $840 over a year increase than pay movers, new deposits, etc. I'm sure they know that people are like that, and that's how they get away with some of the highest rent increases in the area. The apartments are well laid out, my neighbors are pretty quiet, and the outside grounds are always well maintained. However, the leasing office staff are some of the rudest individuals I have EVER had to deal with. On four separate occasions in just over a year, I've been subjected to some of the most condescending attitudes - I had no idea you could reach this level of rude without taking some kind of "make the client irate" course. I've heard many residents complain - I think I'll start encouraging them to write corporate. Between their stories and the reviews on here - it's a systemic issue with the staff. With as much as you pay here - the rent should include basic decency on behalf of the staff. So..in short...if you don't mind paying more than the average in the area, if you don't ever need to speak to the leasing office, never have visitors who need parking passes, get home by 5pm to snag a semi-decent parking space (or have a garage) then you'll probably enjoy it here. The maintenance guys were obviously not trained by the office staff, because they're always courteous and fix things right the first time. It's a quiet neighborhood, dog-friendly, and the 10' ceilings are super-nice. The $40 a month pet rent is ridiculous. It's not something that's limited to this place, as more and more apartment complexes are doing this - but it's still really annoying. Over 2 years I will have paid almost $1000 for pet rent. Also, you can't have a second gate remote for another driver in your house without putting them on the lease - even for teenage drivers. Do not get a first floor apartment. The sealings around the doors and windows are subpar and you'll get lots of ants, spiders, and gnats. Everyone I've talked to on a ground floor apt. has this problem, but no one in the upper floor apts. do. Oh - and for some reason the utilities run really high here. About 25% more than comparable size apts. in the area (based on an informal poll with some of my friends). You will also be stuck with Cox for internet (no Verizon or other options here) and cable too if you don't have a southwestern view for satellite. And the only thing worse than the staff here, is Cox cable! But the Cox issue is not the apartment company's fault, just this area, so you'll face this with many complexes - be sure to ask about that when you rent.
