Resident 2004 - 2006

5/26/2006

So i moved into this place when it was still known as Centerstone and while it wasn't a fabulous place it was affordable and close to where i work. Since then i'ts been bought by a new company and the name changed to Avante (trying to escape the "-------crime" image of Centerstone i guess). The new company has made some improvements, w&d in the larger 1bdrms & 2bdrm apartments, but it took FOREVER and at one point I'm pretty sure they'd forgotten my unit as the installation in the apartments around me was done, the office staff can take longer then expected to return phone calls and the gates are constantly not working on the 2 side of the complex. The covered parking is nice if you want to pay for it but if you don't then it's a free-for all fight for open spaces that might be even remotely near your building, with people often resorting to illegal parking along the firelanes (yeah, that's really safe). The drainage along the walkways is REALLY bad but they've recently started working on that so we'll see... I've only had to deal with maintainance three times, the first time my shower/tub needed to be recaulked and the moron who did it just put new caulk OVER the old caulk!!! WTF!!! The second time it took them 2 weeks to replace the florecent bulbs in my kitchen light and then when the faucet in my shower needed replacing it got replaced TWICE, so a brand new faucet got thrown away and replaced by yet another brand new faucet, aparently no one turned in a completed work-order. When i renewed my lease i was told that i could do a lateral transfer into one of the "upgraded" units (new carpet, repainted, blah, blah) but at the time they didn't have any of the larger 1 bdrms available, so i was told to check back in a month or so, which i did... what i wasn't told is that if i wanted to transfer, my rent would go up considerably, instead of staying at the rate i'm currently paying... and while the "upgraded" units look nicer, they are so NOT worth what they're asking for them, especially considering the area. Given the age of the complex and what they started with you can't expect the new Management company to be able to make the place go from so-so to fab overnight but that being said you can still only do so much to the existing structures and this sows ear will never really be a silk purse regardless of how much money gets sunk into it.
