Resident 2012

8/7/2012

Overall my one year stay at Concept One was great. Joe is very very organized and is aware of everything that happens inside and around the building. The maintenance is kind, helpful, and will usually always help out the moment you need them. Although the location is in Belltown, which is known for it's bars and night life, the noise level was bearable and after a few weeks the noise was no issue at all. As for safety, I felt very safe. I am a 24 year old female student, who worked late nights at a nearby restaurant, living alone, and I had no problems walking home after midnight or walking my dog around once in Belltown. If you own a dog, it must be over one year old (I believe), and I would recommend this anyways. I bought a 2 month old boxer a month after moving in, and it was not only very difficult work in keeping the place clean and smelling good, but constantly worrying if she would make it down the stairs outside was also a concern. This did cause some friction between Joe and I, because I had the youngest and most wild dog in the building, which is why I think he moved the age to one year (good idea!) As for negatives, sometimes I felt as if there were too many rules. The roof was closed numerous times on sunny days because tenants did not clean up after themselves the day before (sometimes this being moving chairs or tables, or leaving a few things of trash). There were 2 parking spots for guests as well as 1-2 extra spaces near the door that were taken away half way through my stay because tenants were abusing there privileges there. I was also threatened a few times by word and letters that I would have to get rid of my puppy because other tenants told the management that they saw her peeing in the hallways upstairs-which she did not do, and it was basically there word against mine. I also did not like the notes typed out and written in the elevators, which were sometimes demeaning to the tenants, such as "I will not clean up after you, you are adults," and things of that nature. But in retrospect, the stay here was very delightful, and if I could have stayed longer, I would gladly live at Concept One for many years. Joe can be very delightful, helpful, and involved, which is nice from an apartment manager. Concept One never smelled, was never dirty, and the size of my studio caught all my guests off guard. It was roomy, had TONS of closet space, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen was HUGE for a studio (or even for a one bedroom) and the balcony was a great size for a grill, table and a few plants! (I had one of the few larger balcony's on the 2nd floor.) I also didn't own a car, but for the most part friends would park outside after 6 or 8 PM on weekdays, or Sundays for free, so it wasn't much of an inconvenience for anyone. Also, if you ask Joe to park in a guest spot before 5, sometimes it is free and open to use. One last thing, the 900 in rent covered water, sewer, and basic cable (which was not so basic, I had all the news channels and the discovery channel)was to me is a steal.
