Resident 2008 - 2011

5/14/2011

So Unhappy

My experience with this complex started when my two friends moved in a few years ago. At first my only complaints were the lack of guest parking and the fake security. There are only 4 designated visitor parking spots in the far corner by the dumpsters. They expect the rest of the guests to park on the street. This would be fine, if all the residence didn't park in guest parking and on the street. Because of the times, no on wants to pay the parking spot fee (which makes sense since the spots aren't even covered!). As for the security, you are supposed to have to buzz into the building to unlock the door. This would be great, except 9 time out of 10 someone has propped a door open or a window is open/unlocked on the first floor that leads to a hallway. Not really secure at all. During business hours, anyone can walk in the front door, where the office people can technically see them. They are not paying attention to who enters, so again not secure. When I did move in with my friend, things got even worse. My mother received a parking ticket for being parked in someone's spot for 5 minutes. She was standing right there when given the ticket, arm in a cast and two young children in tow. She did not pay the ticket, and it was dropped. The parking guy is not a real cop, the tickets are really just a scam to get more money from you. When my fiance parked in a spot that was confusingly labeled both Visitor and Reserved, he received a ticket as well. When I talked to the office about it, they stated no one was even paying for that spot, so why the ticket? His car also was towed within 15 minutes of his second ticket, though they claimed it was his third. They didn't seem to understand when I explained that guest parking was usually taken up by residents that didn't want to pay for parking. At one point we had a late fee, that the office told us was waved. When my roommate accidentally through away the notice stating the waved fee, the office charged us the fee anyways. They did not keep a record of telling us the fee was waved. For a long time one of the toilets was not properly attached to the ground, and the seat wasn't attached to the bowl. We asked for this to be fixed multiple times before anyone even bothered. Eventually the seat disconnected again. Now that we have moved out they want to charge us for paint, carpets, and drip pans (the circles under the burners on the stove). None of which is actually legal for them to charge for since the apartment was lived in for so long. Over all I found the office completely unorganized and unhelpful while living there and after. I don't suggest anyone living here, if you can avoid it.
