Resident 2011

2/8/2012

I stayed here a few short months. My boxes were stolen off the back of my U-Haul move in day. However, since it became apparent to me that at least half the tenants were on housing assistance, not to discriminate, but low income means higher crime always. Statistical FACT that if I would have known, I would not have moved in. The basement was flooded with a virtual lake of waste water leaking from the pipes (NOT groundwater!). Took several pics of mold. It was never properly fixed. The graffiti was a nice touch. Sometimes the washers and dryers, the three that there were for my very large multi unit building were half of the time in operation, and not kept clean at all. Parking, now that's a joke. I had to park on the street as there were several instances there was no parking at all in the lot available to me coming home from work. of course, since most of the cars remained parked there because no one was going to a job, and then they would have visitors not authorized, no wonder. And I PAID for parking. Let me talk about the visitors for a moment. So many cars coming and going. So many parking, double parked, and then leaving. Read between the lines. The police were coming to my particular building practically daily looking for my neighbors. Asking if I knew their schedules. I asked what was going on. I was told I looked like a didn't belong there on my way to work one morning. I asked how bad was the crime there. One officer's response, "when is your lease up?" The noise was intolerable. I could hear all of my neighbors at all hours of the day and night in their units, banging, kids screaming constantly. And I have a child. My child commented a few times on just how loud the other neighbors and kids were being at all hours of the night on a WEEKNIGHT. Now THAT is saying something. Besides being ill from exposure to everything going on in the basement, on steroids for a length of time, and the management that threatened me if I went after them stating I would never, ever be able to rent anywhere again with this on my permanent record. This? This place is absolutely inhabitable. The day I moved out a minister came with his family to deliver turkey dinners to all of the poor people in my building. It wasn't just at that moment that the icing on the cake was thrown at my face. It was the fact that while carrying boxes past, a neighbor opened their door to the minister and his family. A HUGE cloud of smoke exited into the hallway. Way to get the minister a contact buzz, and my daughter. She asked what that funny smell was. I am unsure what crack the other writers are smoking that talk about this place being anything but horrific. I wouldn't move in if someone paid me.
