The studios are small, but the value is fine

I lived in the Med Center apartments for 1 year, opting for the K building (mostly studio apartments). I grew very tired of the size of the room and looked elsewhere; however, the value (555$ a month which included all utilities, cable and Internet) is pretty unbeatable. If you don't have much stuff and can stand the cramped conditions, it's not bad. I liked having no utilities hassle, since they were all paid. During school, however, the Internet does tend to crawl. Lots of people sucking up bandwidth, and there is no way to configure it. If you want to play online games like Warcraft III that need people to be able to connect to you, then forget it. All in all, these are small gripes. My appliances were ok. The fridge tended to make this loud rattling noise when it shut down after a cooling cycle. It would startle you at times. The sink is tiny. My apartment had no dishwasher, so dishes kinda piled up on my busier days. The kitchen itself being so small can really dampen your spirits if you like to cook. The storage for such a small place, though, was fantastic. It had a ridiculous amount of space to store groceries, considering how small the apartment was! Pros: -Parking, never once had any trouble -Location, I could walk to the hospital and not pay for parking over the year -Convenient, I could get pretty much anywhere by walking. Kroger was easy to get to, and I really liked that when it was snowing hard and I wanted some chips for NFL games -Free utilities -Staff, a few times I had problems, and the maintenance was nice and there as quickly as possible without problems. The front office was never surly to me, and I appreciated that. Also, I got my full deposit back, which is a benefit of living in a school-run place -Amazing toilets! I feel weird saying how much I liked these things, but they were like jet-powered. A welcome break from home where you could urinate and clog the stupid thing. Cons: -Space, assuming you don't choose a 1BR, is quite limited. -Noise, the walls are not well-insulated against it. At any given time I could hear noise above, below, and to the side of me. Ambulances blare at any hour, and for me there was a lot of construction (which has since finished, but it's a fire hall so that means more sirens potentially). It's really something you get used to, though. -Kitchen, for me, was an issue. There was little space to do work making meals, and the burners on the stove didn't seem to be able to work simultaneously, so I could only use one at a time efficiently. -Those beds! This being a furnished apartment, it came with beds. They're pretty terrible in quality and tear away a lot of space from the room. Hurt my back, loud, space-consuming. Unfortunately, I had two, as well, and the management had nowhere to store the extra one. -Has a dorm feel to it, for sure. This is not an awful thing. I wouldn't say there was a lot of party noise, just a lot of stuff going on. All in all, I'd recommend it for the person looking to save some money without a roommate and have a nice convenient spot to strike out! Addendum: I see that a lot of people comment on smells, bugs, and lack of ventilation. I can honestly say that I never saw a single bug, save for those little fruit fly things that go to your garbage and flies. Never saw a single ant or roach, which is astounding to me given that I was less than prudent about cleanliness! There are strange smells in the halls sometimes, but once in your apartment those tend to disappear. Regarding the ventilation- yes, definitely not adequate. I would be cooking and barely burn something, and the overly-sensitive fire alarm would go off. I had to hang a towel over the thing to make it more reasonably sensitive. At least you know you're not going to die in a fire with that guy, because you'll know when something is smoldering, even! It's a little annoying, but able to be worked around.
