Resident 2012 - 2013

5/10/2013

We were in need of a reasonably priced small apartment for a shorter term while our home was being built and we picked this one for its proximity to the new home. The sign says "Luxury Apartments" but this apartment was by no means "luxury." The kitchen was tiny and the stove/oven was uneven and never had the correct temperature. The sink did not have a disposal or spray function. Luxury would have these amenities at a minimum. The toilet didn't seem like it had been cleaned very well before we moved in and no matter what chemicals I used or how hard I scrubbed, I could not get it clean enough or the smell of stale urine out of it. The apartment (and the especially the carpet) smelled like smoke from the minute we moved in. Also, the smoky smell seemed to come through the vents in the bathroom and into the closet and bedroom (it turns out that our neighbor smoked in the the apartment and this may be where it came from). This stale smoky smell saturated our clothes and furniture to the point that we had to air out for days and/or wash all of our clothes before putting them in our new house. We also had to thoroughly clean our sofa and mattress to eliminate the smell as well. Neither my husband nor I smoke so this was a huge issue for us. It was so bad, I contemplated sending our clothes to a cleaner and having a service clean our furniture upholstery and sending the bill to the apartment management for reimbursement. One may say it was just because our neighbor smoked, but I believe the apartment the representative showed us on our tour had a bit of a smoky smell to it as well. Surely, not everyone in that complex smoked except us. An apartment in this condition with the low end fixtures is not worth the amount of rent we had to pay. A more appropriate rent would have been in the $450-$500 range rather than the $650/12 month or $700/7 month lease term levels. Also, the water/sewer must be a flat rate rather than actual consumption because we did not live in the apartment for 25 of the last 30 days of our lease but were still charged the same as every other month. I do not recommend this apartment complex unless you are in desperate need of a solution like we were and feel you can overlook its many faults.
