DON'T SIGN THAT LEASE JUST YET........
Upon entering the Garden District of Auburn, you will be amazed by how beautiful it is, and how much it resembles down town Louisiana. It is definitely something that you will not see at any other student housing residence around this college town. The MODEL apartment that the front office shows you, however, is EXTREMELY deceiving. Do NOT be fooled by how nicely everything goes together in the model home. In the actual apartments, the carpet is dark, unattractive, and dirty. You cannot tell the dirtiness from just looking at it, but I warn you, do not walk around barefoot. Your feet will turn black upon contact with the soiled carpeting. The appliances do not match, and they are EXTREMELY outdated. When one appliance breaks, they either bandaid-fix it, or give you another dated piece of crap to replace it. We got our apartment furnished, and the furniture provided is now falling apart. The air conditioner is COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE upstairs. In my bedroom, most of the flooring is hollowed out (from previous termites, perhaps?) and there is a TERRIBLE creaking noise with each step I take. I cannot be in my room, unnoticed, and without disturbing my roommates. I called maintenance to fix it, and they simply drove a nail through my carpet. To fix what? I'm not sure. Every time my upstairs roommate and I flush our toilets, there is an unbearably loud WHOOSHHH sound that goes throughout the living room, which is embarrassing with company over. There was also a hollowed out space in my balcony, but they just threw a thin piece of plywood over it to "fix" the problem (this is what i mean by bandaid fix) We can hear every word our neighbors say, along with what their radio, television, laptop, etc. says. I can also hear my neighbor going through his closet at all hours of the night. And worst of all, there is a HORRIBLY ANNOYING FRUIT FLY PROBLEM. I am only a freshman at Auburn University, but I can GUARANTEE there are better places to live than the Garden District. Heed my warnings....DO NOT RENT IN THE GARDEN DISTRICT! It is NOT worth $440/room/month. Happy apartment shopping!Share This Review
