Resident 2012 - 2016

2/1/2016

DO NOT live here. Our building regularly floods with rain, I have lost count of the amount of times we have had Roto Rooter out to "fix" (they do what they can) the issue of sewage flooding our bathroom via the toilet and bathtub. I had to call the health department before they would take up the carpet outside of the bathroom door and we were still treated as if this building's age and malfunction was somehow our doing. The man that cleans the carpets does little to actually clean them and I have spent more money on Rug Doctors in the past four years than I ever imagined possible. We would have moved out after the lease was up the first time if our circumstances had allowed. The upstairs water heater burst and damaged a significant amount of our belongings stored in the bedroom's walk-in closet. A maintenance person once left a work order slip in our unit by mistake describing the trouble another renter was having with rats infesting their bedroom. We have mold growing under the leaky bathroom sink and the boards in that vanity are all swollen and rotten. When the maintenance person came to fix it I literally stood behind him and watched him wipe it down once with a chemical mold killer and then spray paint the inside of the cabinet white. This is twenty minutes after the former property manager told me they would have the cabinet taken out and a new vanity put in.The new management and maintenance do what they can, but it isn't much. There are holes in the walls behind the refrigerator and dishwasher, and though Lumpkin Pest Control regularly sprays, the building is quite vulnerable to roaches. The windows and doors are not properly sealed and so during the winter the living room/dining are get absolutely frigid. We have two cats that constantly cough, they are short haired and rarely do I see a hairball so I feel that the dampness of the apartment coupled with the mildew that is left after the living room carpet is flooded is the root of this problem. Supposedly the rain water issue will be solved soon, but I'd take the rain over the sewage that regularly floods any day. Save your money and put it into a place worth living. Roto Rooter left again today and his last comment was that this place should be bulldozed. Agreed. Turn it into a park or something. This is ridiculous.
