Resident 2014 - 2015

5/18/2015

I entered this apartment complex with excitement knowing I would be living next to one of the nicest shopping centers in the city and also knowing I was located within a few miles of any entertainment I could possibly want, however, I have left with a bad experience. After living at multiple apartment complexes in different cities I must say that this one takes the cake for having the most maintenance issues I have ever encountered. The laundry room only has 3 functioning dryers at this time (for 100s of residents), but all of the washing machines seem to work. I was told multiple times that this would eventually be resolved, but the problem still persist as far as I know. My air conditioner went out a few times while I lived there and it took a long time to get the issues fixed. The bathtub in the apartment was not put in correctly and sits at an angle, so every time I would take a shower, water would rush down the outside and onto the floor leaving a significant amount of water to clean up. This was very irritating. My bathtub also had to be unclogged numerous times. There were multiple issues that I left without acknowledging and just put up with because there was no way to really go about fixing them. Every time a door would shut outside my unit, it felt as if the person leaving was actually walking in my own apartment as I could hear the whole conversation they were having, and lets not even get started on how loud the footsteps were when people would walk up and down the stairs. I rated the overall appearance of the community a 2/5 star not because of the landscaping (very well kept), but because the complex also seems to have a serious stray cat issue. There are multiple cats on the grounds that were there the day I moved in and remained the day I moved out. The number of cats has probably doubled since. They would hide under vehicles and walk on cars leaving footprints all the time. Every day I backed out of my parking spot, I was just waiting to run over a cat that I did not notice hiding under my car leaving my day in shambles. Luckily, this never happened. When I reported an issue the staff always seemed nice and happy to put in a ticket for it to be resolved, but it always took days to fix, and sometimes I would have to put in multiple requests. Also, when I lived there I was told that the car care center would be up and running not long after I moved in, but it was not fixed until 3 months before I moved out. The place was not all bad. They do have a big fitness center, but much of the equipment is old and some of it does not work. The complex is conveniently located next to one of the busiest shopping centers in all of Birmingham, so this is a good and bad thing. You don't have to travel far to find entertainment, but there is an extensive amount of traffic. Overall, I would not recommend living here. The rent is way too high and it's just not worth the cost.
