Resident • 2012 - 2014 Not Recommended
I have lived in Redmont Properties' Homewood Townhomes for almost two years, and I would not recommend them to anyone. The insulation, if any, is extremely poor. My apartment is very cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer, despite keeping the thermostat at what should be comfortable levels. The single pane windows do not properly close and many are not sealed around the edges. The kitchen window is actually "sealed" with a piece of a pool noodle. Rent is supposed to include pest control, but the only time services are provided is after you have reported a problem, and that requires at least a week's notice to the office before they send someone out. The main reason I would not recommend these townhomes to anyone is the repeated issues I have had with plumbing. Four times since I have lived here, the next door neighbor's sewage line has backed up and overflowed into my kitchen through the pipe where my washing machine drains. This has always happened after normal office hours and I have been told by the emergency maintenance staff to just not use water until they can come out the next day. The causes of this have varied from roots growing through the galvanized steel pipes to the neighbors flushing inappropriate items down their toilet (tampons, condoms, etc.). No effort has been made the rework the plumbing to prevent this from happening again. Their only solution is to wait until the next time it happens and to clean out the pipes. It is absolutely disgusting to have a stranger's sewer line spill out into your kitchen floor. I never would have signed a lease if I had anticipated this type of issue. The location is very convenient to downtown, but I would much rather fight the traffic than deal with these types of unsanitary problems. Please do yourself a favor and pay a little more for a cleaner, safer apartment!
