Resident 2008

1/31/2009

A good find - can't beat the location!

I lived here for 6 months in 2008 - unfortunately had to leave when I lost my job. Management was great, any maintenance issues were handled pretty promptly, and the grounds were always in tip-top shape. Though I hardly ever had time to use it, the pool area was very nice and clean. As a young single woman I always felt safe there and it was always very quiet (no loud parties). Although the apartment buildings are old, they've definitely been remodeled over the years and my unit had new carpet, light fixtures, and fairly new kitchen cabinets. The kitchen was a bit cramped and I wasn't too fond of having the washer/dryer in the kitchen, but I didn't find it to be that big of a deal like other reviewers. There were a few big roaches around but they were always outside and I only had one or two little ones wander in my apartment during my whole time there. I think roaches are just part of living in Alabama (being a Yank, this was something I had to adjust to) but the complex is good about spraying if you find any and they spray outside the buildings twice a month. My favorite aspect of this complex was the location - it is right off of the expressway - just minutes from Birmingham, Vestavia, and downtown Homewood, which was perfect for someone like me who was new to the area. It never took me longer than 15 minutes to get anywhere I wanted to go. I guess the one significant con I can list is that rental price is a bit high, but otherwise, I recommend it!
