My wife and I went into the leasing office of Abby Glenn to complete an application for an apartment and were very dissatisfied with the way we were treated. The agent that greeted us was pleasant at first while taking our names and certain other, various information until we were presented with the simple question of "Do either of you two smoke?" To which I replied "Yes, but I'm in the process of quitting." You would have thought that somebody took a $%it on the floor next to him by the look on his face and the immediate refusal to rent an apartment to us. We were told we can't even consider renting from them until I am able to provide proof that I have quit for at least a year. I'm not entirely positive this kind of discrimination is legal, nor can I fathom how anyone can prove they have quit smoking for an entire year.
