Resident 2008 - 2012

3/5/2013

I lived at this apartmetn complex from July 2008 untill Dec 2012. IN that time I had several occasions to call for service ranging from AC not cooling at all in a heatwave (4 times) heat not working in near or below freezing temps (3 times in 1 winter, 2 the next), and leaks in bathroom sink (twice same leak) The parking lots are a free for all and in terrible disrepair. the railroad ties that are used in some pkaces are rotting and leaving steel rebar to stick up out of the ground and in other places are situated at just the right height to rip loose the bumper of my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse on one occasion. I gave verbal notice in November to the apartment manager and went by the office to give written notice. The manager was busy with a cleaner or contractor of some sort and just gave me a sticky note to write my notice on saying it would suffice. I included ny name, number, new address and curent apartment number & stated I was not renewing my lease & planned to be out before the end of Dec. I moved out and returned my key just before Christmas. It is nor March and I have not gotten my deposit back yet. (I left the apartmetn cleaner than when I moved into it) I called Late January and was told the paperwork was sent to the main office & I should hear from them. I asked her to confirm the new address and my phone number in case they needed to contact me and to be sure they semnt the deposit to the correct address. She read it back correctly. I called March 5th to get the numebr for the main office as I had not heard anything yet and was told my deposit was not beinfg returned because I didn't give propper notice. I told ehr I HAD given written notice and she commented "It was on a sticky note and I couldn't read it at all" I told her that was not acceptable as she had been able to read it well enough the last time I called to read back my new address and my phone number. She stated it was turned in less than 30 days before end of lease, I infomred her int was in November and lease didn't end till Dec 31. She became irritated & defensive, stated SHE would call and talk to them and have me called back. IIf you move in, make sure you have a portable heater & AC as well as no plans to EVER see a penny of your deposit again if you ever move.
