The reality at Lakeview is that the complex is too big for its own good, living here has been decent, the location is absolutely fabulous, you are very close to entertainment, dining, shopping and freeway, but that is about all that can be said for the grounds. There is constant buzz from maintenance guys zooming by in their carts all day long, but the unfortunate truth is that i myself have tried to contact them twice with no avail. The phone is never answered at the office and messages are never returned. The grounds always have trash in the parking areas because the groundskeepers blow all the trash into the parking areas from the sidewalk and don't bother picking up the trash once its in the parking areas. The lease agreement said small pets were allowed i.e. dogs and cats >25 pounds, i have personally witnessed one of the maintenance guys walking around with a fairly large dog, if your employees can not uphold the rules how do you expect your residents to abide? Although the big dogs wouldn't be an issue except i don't like stepping into horse sized waste all over the lawns. You can not enjoy a nice walk outside around the lakes without running into pet waste of some form. The apartments recently implemented the front gates to be locked at all times for a reason that was never explained to the tenants, instead of being a safety measure it feels more like a useless novelty item, the grounds are open all the way around the perimeter and ANYONE has the ability to walk on and off the grounds as they please so i do not see a reason for a locked gate. If you do find yourself outside of the gate without the gate code, don't worry, one of the tenants will reluctantly yell out the code for you to enter or just have you pull forward while they punch in the code, again no one feels that this gate is any type of safety measure. The apartments have a nice eye appeal from afar, but upon closer inspection you can tell that they are starting to become rundown, the walls are cracking, and the paint is fading. Management has recently decided to "renovate" some of the units and add a fancy sticker price to the place, you will inevitably end up with the same cabinets as the older units, but they will be painted a nicer color, and the fixtures will have been updated for some stainless steel handles, you will also find yourself with a "fancy" linoleum floor that has a wood like finish, be aware this flooring is cheap. It is ultimately still linoleum just looks nicer than the fake tile look. You will pay about 300+ a month more for these upgraded version, so in essence, the apartments understand that to keep up with the current market, which offers many of these things as standard they need to renovate, but they end up sticking you with the cost of the renovation over your lease agreement, and when you move out they are left with a "nicer" apartment that was renovated completely free of cost to them. Like i stated before living here has not been a bad experience its been pretty convenient for myself, but when you get stuck with an apartment where you are paying almost $1000 monthly at the end of the day you feel like you deserve much more for your buck, and that is a horrible feeling to have.
