ScrewedOnTheMoveOut

Resident 2012

11/18/2012

I moved in to an apartment here when the place was still Trillium. I lived here for two leases and was an active member of the apartment community, my dog was well-known at the doggie park, I knew the security guy and the one remaining Trillium person from the front office on a first-name basis, brought the office staff chocolates at Christmas etc, and I loved my apartment. There was a manager there under Trillium that was useless (Cole) but then a GREAT manager took over when Weidener bought the place. Laura was wonderful and really cared about the people that lived here, she finally got rid of the crackheads that managed to move in next door to me. Laura was terminated for reasons unknown in 2011 and that's when the entire place went downhill. I loved living here for the time I did, I loved my apartment....my mistake and/or what angered the apartment management staff was my choice to get a house and therefore move OUT of Natura Villas. The pre-move out inspection was done a week before I moved out, and the maintenance man that performed the inspection was genuinely a nice guy. He said, verbatim, "This place is so clean you could pick up your things and leave without cleaning anything and be fine," and, "I have never seen an oven so clean." He told me that because I have a dog they would need to do a pet treatment on the carpet to remove dander for future tenants, and he gave me a "1" on my inspection sheet, explaining that the range was from 1-3, 1 being excellent and 3 being bad. He saw my containers of paint that I had gotten from the office to do touchups and said that I shouldn't worry about touching up the paint as the apartment looked amazing as-is. I have his inspection sheet and notes if anyone would like to see. Anyway, I did paint the apartment, because I am OCD and believe in leaving places better than in which I found them. My neighbor downstairs came up to say goodbye and saw us painting! I also had a company come out and do a thorough carpet cleaning for $80. The place smelled like paint and clean carpet when I closed the door for the last time. Imagine my shock when I received a bill from Natura Villas two weeks after moving out to REPLACE the carpet and FULLY PAINT the inside of the ENTIRE apartment. When I questioned it, I was told that the "carpet was so damaged by pet urine it had to be replaced" and that the "interior of the apartment walls were in dire need of repainting." Number one, I painted before I left! I have witnesses, and the office staff were the ones who GAVE me the paint! Number two, I know there are gross people out there who let their pets pee in the house....but as I stated, I am OCD, plus my dog weighs 50 lbs so his pee would be unmistakable....but beyond all that, I can provide 5 sworn statements from people that have boarded my dog, in their own homes (2 dog facilities, one dog trainer, and two friends) and can attest that he would cross his legs for 24 hours before he'd lift his leg inside...not to mention that my dog attended day camp at Camp Bow Wow when I went to work! Camp Bow Wow can attest to that, too! My dog was rarely in the apartment on his own! I was unable to come to any sort of resolution from the Assistant Manager, Ms. Crystal Lizada, who told me in so many words that she didn't care what I had to say about these ridiculous fees, and to pay up anyway. She also tried to charge me for the entire "life" of the carpet and only switched the fee when TWICE I brought it to her attention that I lived there for 24 months and that it was not legal to charge me for the three years of carpet life before I moved in. If you have a pet, DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. They will be nice as pie to you in the office but once you move out they will treat you like a disgusting, neglectful owner who lets their dogs rain pee down on the neighbors below all day long. They will charge you to paint an apartment that you just painted. They will send you to collections 2 WEEKS after all of this with no rational negotiation. Expect to be charged superfluous fees for NOTHING! If you like flushing money down the toilet, move in to Natura Villas. I regret EVER setting foot in that place.
