Resident 2014

1/9/2014

My rental experience here started on January 2nd, 2013. We came to the property to look at their two bedrooms... the boyfriend and I decided we would finally move in together. And I fell in love. The split floor plan was ideal, the roman tubs were a must have for me, and it was large (so I thought.) We were run through all the specials and asked to be put on the wait list, because apparently these apartments are hard to come by. With the monthly rate being $889 plus taxes and fees, I couldn't turn it down... but I walked away because I didn't have check with me to be on the wait list. (They required $100 that minute.) I don't use checks so I left, returning 2 days later with my $100 and $83 application fee. While taking my money, she tells me that an apartment should be available by March time. We had to be out of our other leases by February. So we dealt with paying a huge amount for an additional month at our current places. While signing documents, she says, "and the monthly rent is $920 per month plus taxes and fees..." Errr... wait. It raised in just two days time? I get that it's not a huge increase, but when you expect one thing and get told another, it is a bit off putting. We again deal with it. At move in, we paid $200 admin fee, and $300 deposit, plus $958 first months rent. So we paid $1800 just so we could move in to this "oh so wonderful place!" Upon inspecting the apartment, we have all sorts of issues. Huge GREEN stains on the living room carpet and in the master bedroom. (Which to this day we still live with.) Dawn (who is no longer with the office,) said she checked the apartment and it wasn't there... Ha. Okay. There was also food all over the "accent wall." Like they didn't even clean it... let alone put a new coat of paint. Those were the two of the issues that got me most. We brought this to managements attention and Chris says, "I would like to come in and see all this." Then never did. He didn't he follow up. I offered to clean it for a concession on next months rent and he said he'd ask his boss but it would only be $25... never heard from him about it. He followed up with, "My guys aren't professionals and they make mistakes." GREAT! So right off the bat, issues. Second problem, my son and I went down to the pool to swim one summer night and a couple was in the pool having sex. I told security and never heard anything about it. NEVER SWIM IN THE POOLS! Here we are with 2 months left and we can't wait to leave. The final decision was when we heard how much rent was being raised to renew. $950 per month for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment is stupid. We are going to be renting a 4 bedroom 3 bath house for $1000 per month just a few blocks west on Osborn. We had 5 service calls during our stay and 4 were taken care of in a timely manner. The last one (which we are still waiting to have fixed) has been on the go for 3 months now. It started with a leak in the ceiling. I asked that their maintenance team schedule an appointment, like I always have and they tell me, "we stop working at 2:30." I work a rather normal Monday-Friday 8-5 job. So I took time off in the afternoon to be there... no one showed. I called and it took them over 1 week to get back to me. 3 times now, they have been a no show on scheduled appointments. I have lost 9 hours of work for this. I have given up. I gave them permission to enter when ever and 2 weeks have gone by, no one has come to repair the ceiling. I will update if I have any issues at move out. (Which I am sure I will. My sister just moved out... she asked if she needed to clean the already clean carpet and Kathy in the office told her no... They tear out the old stuff and put in new. So she didn't. And they got a bill for $250 carpet cleaning fee. She fought it with them and they responded with, "Don't pay it and we will take you to court. We don't care." Arioso was bad from the beginning, and never seemed to get better.
