Resident 2013 - 2014

3/23/2014

This place is a joke. Stay as far away as possible. My lease is up in a few months and I literally CANNOT wait to get the hell out of here. Some highlights from my time so far here: To start, I didn't even get the unit I wanted. First there was a mix up with which floor I wanted to be on, then a mix-up between light and dark packages entirely. I ended up in a unit I didn't want which I didn't get to look at until a week before I was scheduled to move in. Initial walk-through (the day before I was schedule to move in) showed tons of little blue tape marks which I was assured were things that would be fixed by maintenance. I noted them on the walk-through sheet the office gives you to note any existing damages; to this day maintenance hasn't set a foot inside my apartment despite repeated requests. There remains a giant crack in the window of my second bedroom, still not fixed. Forget about opening your windows, there are no screens. You are welcome to purchase your own and ask maintenance to install them. The laundry facility is outrageous. The door remains unlocked at all hours of the day and night which to start is just weird. The are four washers and four dryers that work 25% of the time if you are lucky. Some security guards like to hang out in the facility with the lights off. I have, on more than one occasion, been scared half the death to walk into the laundry room to find a security guard just standing there. In the dark. Who hires these people? Covered parking is available for an additional fee. To which I say, no way in hell. They get $900 a month from me, why the hell should I have to then pay additional for parking? Also, make sure you aren't a MINUTE late renewing your car tags, lest the local towing company that must be hard up for business (and clearly in cahoots with the complex) tow your car. The aforementioned security is nonexistent when people get into screaming matches at all hours of the night. I have lost count of the number of time's I've woken up to neighbors screaming obscenities at each other and throwing what must be bowling balls from the balconies onto the concrete below. Pay your rent online but make sure you tack on an additional $30-$40 fee depending upon the type of card, because you know, processing fees and all. KIDS EVERYWHERE. I was told the pod I was moving into was generally kid-free (I like quiet, sue me). It's not so much the kids in general but the lack of supervision that frightens me - watching a three year old girl wander the parking lot aimlessly with no adult to be found is not okay. Kitchen is astonishingly tiny as and there is zero counter space in the bathroom. Hey, those things matter! All in all, terrible experience. Literally counting the days until I can blow this joint.
