Resident 2013 - 2015

3/28/2015

Overall, this is a good apartment and I recommend them. The leasing office staff is very friendly. The property is well maintained/landscaped. I had no major problems the entire 2 years I lived there. Rent is priced fairly. It's generally fairly quiet and safe. When I moved out, I made sure to clean the apartment thoroughly. When I left, it was as clean as the day I moved in. I took good care of the unit the entire time I was there. No damages or marks or anything. And I cleaned thoroughly before leaving. Still, despite all that, they charged me a general cleaning fee plus a carpet cleaning fee, totalling just over $100. I was not happy to discover that. When I moved in, the carpet was obviously old and already had several stains, which I noted in detail on my move-in inspection sheet. They're slowly renovating all the units too, putting in new carpets and cabinets. Why should I have to pay for them to clean an old carpet (that I already cleaned for them) when apartments are supposed to do that normally, and they're probably going to replace it with something new anyway? They didn't charge me for anything else. I have a feeling it's a standard cleaning fee they charge everybody. Their pet rent policy is a little absurd too. In addition to pet rent, they want a $300 pet deposit, $150 of which was non-refundable. Even if I only wanted a pet bird. I can understand a dog or cat; they scratch things, pee on carpets, etc. But a $300 deposit ($150 they keep no matter what) just for a parakeet in a cage? That makes no sense. Plenty of other apartments don't even consider birds (or other small caged animals) a "pet" in the lease. True, the leasing office said I wouldn't have to pay extra pet "rent" for a caged animal, but the deposit was still required. wtf? Parking is good. You get an assigned space near your unit. There was usually enough open guest spots for when a friend would come to visit too. The complex is gated after 6pm on weekdays and all day Sunday. The rest of the time, the gate is left open. I wasn't aware of any crime or other problems. I felt safe living there. Most of the time it was pretty quiet too. The apartment complex has a pool and hot tub. But for some reason, they seemed to turn off the hot tub in the winter (when I wanted to use it most). I can't say for sure if it was off 100% of the time in the winter. But whenever I randomly checked, the hot tub was cold. Very few tenants seem to use the pool ever though (even in the summer), so maybe they were just trying to save money thinking no one was using it during the winter months. But I'm speculating on that. The laundry facilities were recently upgraded. You should have no problems there. It's about $1.25 per load per washer/dryer. They got rid of the prepaid smartcard and now you just use your debit card and pay for exactly what you need. It was extremely rare that I needed maintenance for anything. Can't really comment on that. But take that as a good sign. All in all, it's a good place to live and a pretty good value for the rent. When you finish your lease, you can go month-to-month, but just know ahead of time if you want to do that, your new month-to-month rate will be significantly higher (like $100-$150 more) than you were paying while in a 12-month lease. The best deal is always a long-term lease. And if you plan on staying here for many years, overall, I'd say it's a good choice and would recommend them.
