Resident 2011

8/20/2011

I realized that this place is sorely understaffed. There's only one maintenance guy for a place of more than a hundred residents. Couple that with the place being three decades old and everything is falling apart is just a recipe for disaster. When I first came in, the air conditioning wasn't working. It took the management three days to rectify the situation. That's just unacceptable, especially since it happened during the height of summer. Aside from the poor cooling system, every door in the apartment I moved in does not stay closed and when a really nasty thunderstorm happened a few days ago, the balcony door blew open and all the leaves and debris came in. I already notified the management numerous times of all the things needed fixing in the apartment; that was a month ago and so far nothing's happened. Plus, no one is available at the office most of the time when I call them. Outside isn't so great either. The walkway leading to my apartment is pretty dark and the management doesn't even replace the busted lights. By the time one gets inside the complex, the smell of dried dog pee assail the senses. The general surroundings is pretty much dirty and unkempt, even the elevators are full of leaves and litter. Garbage is not collected regularly, and one time a resident disposed of a couch and a couple of mattresses and it took more than a week for them to remove it. I don't think the general maintenance ever gets to clean the apartments at the back, they mainly focus at the front for the benefit of future residents. Must keep up the appearances! Well it worked because they sure fooled me when I first came in. Don't even get me started on the pool. Last week a health official chained the pool gates because it didn't have enough amount of chlorine in it. So basically the residents were swimming in filthy water. After that, I don't think I'll be stepping into the pool ever again. Also, Barrington Regent is now under the management of Su Casa properties (last time it was Baron) and they don't have the 30 day guarantee that if you hate the place you can rescind from the lease contract without any consequences. Lucky me. So I'm pretty much stuck here until my lease expires.
