I own one of the buildings in Palomino Pte. There are two sides to every story. We bought there so that people can have a nice place to live for a decent price. When you rent there, and you feel like something is wrong, ask to speak directly with the Building Owner. We want to know that our tenants are being reasonably taken care of. The property manager is NOT the landlord. If you don't get the kind of service you need from them, we want to know about it, because we're paying them to do that. On the other hand, tenants should take some pride in their home, even if they don't OWN it. Don't abuse the apartment because you're pissed at the manager. One of our tenants moved out and left the apartment in the most disgusting shape imaginable. We came to see it and we actually gagged and choked from the filth and smell that they left there. They moved in with a brand new rug and everything newly painted. When they were done there, every single wall had marker and crayon on it. There were ------ diapers stuck to the rug. Food was left all over the floor and roaches were all over it. The toilet was beyond gross. The ceiling fan had black caked on dirt about a half inch high. Holes in the doors and walls. The stove made me want to vomit. The dishwasher was completely broken and they ripped the front off. It will cost us thousands of dollars to repair and make livable again. That's not necessary. To the person who said that they left the apartment in awful shape as if they're proud of it, that's just wrong. Renters should still take pride in keeping a nice home even if you don't own it. You are part of the problem if an apartment complex is a nasty place to live. If each renter tried to better the place, it would be a great place to live. The apartments are larger than anything you could get elsewhere for the same money. Each building is owned by a different owner who CARES about the quality of his or her investment, which btw, has gone down the tubes in this economy. Most of the owners can hardly keep their head above water and are actually PAYING money to subsidize the rents they get because it is not enough to pay the mortgage. We are NOT making money off of you. In fact, it's costing us so much money that we are considering moving out of our home and living in one of our rental units. I know that other owners are doing the same. So you might be our neighbor when you rent there. And if you are, pick up papers around your building if you see them, sweep in front of your door. Don't put a living room couch out on your patio. Get your carpets cleaned not because you think you're doing the owners a favor, but because your babies crawl around on them and they deserve a clean home. Cooperate with property managers. Form a block watch to deter crime. And if you have valid complaints, ask to speak to the owner. With that said, if you are a decent human being who cares about the place you live, we, the owner of your 4 unit building, WANT you to rent at Palomino. The more of you who rent there, the better the quality of the environment. If you're a filthy PIG who lets your babies sleep in a room with 250 roaches crawling around in the dark because there are 6 open jars of month old salsa under the bed then do us a favor and don't rent there, and then come and complain about it online.
