Resident 2010

11/23/2010

I've been living in the Abbey apartments since the end of August this year. Just before I moved in a new woman, Barbra, was made manager of the building. She is definitely doing a good job. Maintenance requests are handled withing days of making them and the one time that the problem was not fixed maintenance came back within days to fix the problem (for good this time.) The apartment is extremely large for the price and area where you will be living. This is, of course, because it is low income housing, but it's by no means a shabby place or one filled with druggies. The walls are thick and I've never had trouble with noise bleeding through from my neighbors, though I can hear people above me if they are stomping around. I also like to play music throughout the day (and night, I'm a writer so I keep strange hours) and I've never had a complaint about it. The bad. It is downtown and if you are a light sleeper you may have trouble going to sleep because of the noise of traffic, especially if you are on the north side of the building which faces Van Buren. I walk everywhere and I wish there was an exit I could use that was through the other side of the parking lot, because it would shave about a block off my commute in the morning, but there's nothing they can do about that I suppose.
