Resident 2015 - 2016

3/16/2016

LOOK ELSEWHERE, I MEAN IT!! We had to turn down the first apartment they tried to rent us because it was barely habitable but we had already signed a lease so we were stuck and just took the first one that popped up that looked halfway decent. I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED MORE CLOSELY... With the water out for the 5th day in as many weeks (4 days out in a row last time) and planning to be out again tomorrow, I feel it is only fair that prospective renters get an accurate picture of what they can expect to see at this sorry excuse for a collection of rental units. They can't consistently supply reasonable accommodations, the staff are all TERRIBLE and I saw nicer facilities in South Detroit. I also have extensive personnel and property maintenance management experience so I say this all objectively and with a working knowledge of what it takes to do it right. These "redone" apartments are about as weather-tight as a gazebo and among other striking features they include fresh paint over old water damage and lazy wall/celing repairs, the cheapest water fixtures you've ever seen with random hot and cold arrangements, worn out electrical plugs that don't hold your plugs in with anything more than gravity and a slight breeze accosting them, NON CODE COMPLIANT GFCI PLUG ARRANGEMENTS that like to trip if there's one too many lights on, low spots in the floors that can be measured in gallons of displacement, water pressure that changes like the tide...if we have water at all, also forget about even COOL water out of the faucet if the water heater is working...hell...one day the coolest I could get out of the faucet after 20 min of running on full cold was 102 deg, the parking lot floods 6" deep if it does more than sprinkle for a couple minutes, the maintenance staff routinely hit tenants' vehicles with their golf cart while parking in assigned covered parking and blocking the paying residents, the grounds are strewn with litter and broken glass, the lack of ventilation for the dryer in laundry equipped apartments turns the residence into something that feels like Borneo in monsoon season and takes multiple dry cycles, you can watch the lights dim when you turn on anything with more current draw than a single LED christmas light, the fridge freezes things and you can defrost in the freezer, there are carpet tacks coming through at EVERY threshold that can draw blood, the oven was still full of HIGHLY TOXIC cleaner when we moved in, the hardware on the accordian closet doors are all worn out resulting in toe guillotines and head thumpers, the dishwasher can't clean much more than loose pudding, the cooling system is about as efficient as a dollar store folding hand fan and that's just what I can think of in a few minutes. You could wander the complex yourself and speak to a few residents and have all of these claims corroborated. Among many more examples I could add to all this the fact that we were told when we agreed to this apartment that a bad window in my daughter's room would be replaced before we moved in. We took them at their word. Then we found the window had not been replaced and was literally about to fall out. Did they show the slightest concern that I could not secure the residence for the safety of my wife and then 2 year old daughter? Not in the slightest and was in fact treated quite rudely for demanding that they make right on what was said. This place cares nothing more than collecting your rent check and spending as little as possible without having too many complaints about the poor conditions. This was plainly shown by this situation and many others I have heard from other residents. Please don't give your money to perpetuate the lazy, selfish behaviors committed by the management of this complex. You could do better with your money buying ocean-front property in Nebraska than giving it to the owners/management of this horrendous blight. Look elsewhere, wait a little longer. You WILL NOT be happy you moved here. Just come drive through a couple times and watch all the trucks being filled for exodus.
