The staff at Trillium Deer Valley were pleasant enough to deal with, and I was considering moving in until the question of teacher discounts came up. My SO and I were informed that they would only provide teacher discounts to members of the teacher's union. To the uninformed, that doesn't seem to be an issue, but to those with the requisite experience its a deal-killer. Simply put, if you're a unionized teacher in AZ, you won't get a job or you will lose your job after applying; its not a favorable position to be in. Furthermore, the discount is lower than any other complex I've checked (20$ a month - doesn't even cover taxes), and over the past 6 years, I've looked at 200 apartments. The TL:DR version of this is that the apartments are overpriced for what they are, its not located in a great area, and their business practices are a bit shady. If you're not willing to support our teachers, you aren't going to get my business.
