I have been with Tatum Gardens apartments for nearly a year and I only had one problem until recently. It seems that the majority of the problems that exist with this property are a direct reflection on their Corporate offices, AIMCO, inability to comply with their own pre-written lease terms that they have established. Recently my daughter, who is 9 years old, left her key at school on accident and went into the office to get a key to be let into our home. I received a phone call from the office stating that they will not give her a key to the home because they are not allowed to give keys to non-lease holders. Their lease however states that they will let "residents' into the home without any charges. Their lease also lists my daughter as a resident of the home, but they still would not give her a key. This was something that I confirmed with the community manager prior to signing the agreement because, let's face it, kids forget things. The office preceded to tell me "at least we let her stay in the clubhouse until you got home"..... The clubhouse is an amenity that I pay each month to be able to use. That's like telling me "Well I let you use the pool and check your mail!!!" In addition to that, if you had sent her outside in 106 degree weather, then you would have jeopardizing her health and safety which would not display any level of customer service. I contacted corporate office (aka resident relations should tell you something about how many complaints they get since they have a whole team developed to assist in these kinds of situations)regarding my issue and requested that I not be contacted by the property under any circumstances since I am familiar with the people because I worked for the company in prior years. I was contacted today and harassed by the manager since she was aware that I was already in the process of seeking a new home. She indicated that I was using this case as a ploy to get out of my agreement without penalties, but neglected to review my account balance which shows I have already paid my lease break fees prior to this incident even occurring. If this isn't harassment, then I don't know what is... I kept my mouth shut when it took me over 3 weeks to get my washer and dryer replaced (yes waiting on corporate office approval). I don't dispute the fact that I pay nearly $100 more each month than my designated market rent due to all the additional "rent" charges and hidden fees that they don't tell you about prior to completing an application. If this is how they treat the clients that pay their rent on time, treat their neighbors with respect, and don't violate any terms of their lease agreement, I would hate to see how they treat the tenants that don't comply.
