Resident 2018 - 2021

Worst apartment living experience ever!!! Completely incompetent staff and maintenance team. Lived here 3 years with a constant AC leaking problem that they would not fix. Finally replaced the unit a month ago but the new one stops cooling on a recurring basis. The front desk staff is terrible. They don’t know how to communicate or answer questions regarding lease terms and renewal. They don’t respect my time or privacy. Send maintenance to my place unannounced all the time. My life is constantly interrupted and inconvenienced because they are so unorganized. This is the second Friday in a row that they randomly shut off my water unannounced and after hours so I have no idea what is going on. I cannot wait to get out of here!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!

I had issues from day 1. The manager has not called me and I do not know why. I am considering getting a lawyer. It is OUTRAGEOUS the level of customer service I have received. The lack of accountability is incredible. Maintenance was terrible. Air conditioner worked in only half of the apartment. Conflicting communication with staff. NO accountability if they do something wrong. Plumbing was terrible in both bathroom and kitchen. I could go on, but to be honest, it was an absolute terrible experience.

If you want to live in a place where the maintenance staff works barefoot in your home, where there was a murder that went unaddressed by the office staff/company, and the office staff (except for Nancy) is rude and unprofessional then this is the place for you. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE TRUE! BEWARE! I have experience with three units here, and the problems are the same in all three. They include: - Roaches, like a lot of roaches. The smaller jumping kind coming out of the walls and fixtures, and the big ginormous ones. - Ants, tiny, relentless, and everywhere. - Non-functioning air conditioner units that freeze and drip LoTs of water constantly, don't cool the unit, and drive your electric bill sky high. My daughter's unit last year was above 90 inside all summer yet maintenance kept telling us it was just the layout of the units. She was paying over 350 for electricity and finally by August they said they needed to replace the fan unit. No apology. - Indifferent, douchey office staff - Water outages - Make sure you read your notices of unit inspections because they WiLL walk right the f in. They did it to my son's mother, walked into her bedroom and told her as she was sitting in her underwear meditating and in a state of shock upon seeing the apt manager and two strange men standing inside her bedroom, that she should get dressed and turn on the… See More>

The Apartment: There are leaks and mysterious odors that come from the drains no matter what kind of cleaners you use. They hired cheap carpet people, and after less than two years of average use, the carpets in the living and bedroom and lifting and have unsightly rippling. Beware not to step on an uncovered carpet tack! The walls are also not insulated very well and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Environment: I think they hire discount landscapers to take care of the grounds... the place looks so terrible. Dead and dying shrubs. Sprinklers that water everything but the grass. The grass is weedy and covered in dog pee soaked patches. Speaking of dogs... you will constantly see dogs off leash and pooping everywhere. Owners are too lazy to clean up after their pets which leads of piles of poop everywhere. The kicker is there is a dog park across the street. The gravel areas are never raked and always have pieces of trash everywhere. I know it's the desert but the flowers are always on their way out. (Come on guys, choose drought appropriate perennials.) Oh and the best part, they start at 6:30-7:00am and end… See More>

Do not move here, I lived there for 3 yrs, parking is horrible, mgmt doesn't care or help with cars that are parked and not moved for months in the covered parking areas. They only care about getting people to pay $120.00 per month to park in the garages they offer. Rent increases from $40-$60 a year, it noisy, the grounds need lots of work, grave(areas are flooded when it rains), tree trimming(one tree has already falling on a car) they make you pay for maintenance $25.00 per month in lease, fee for dogs are now $35 gone up another $10, a fee for a service to put up your trash at your door, if you use it or want it or not. Maintenance workers have changed 4 times since I have lived here. Then only good thing about this place is that it is in a good location.

DO. NOT. LIVE. HERE. I wish I could give less than one star. I wish we could have RAN. The management staff is horrible. We loved the layout of the model and were told by one of the management staff members that we WOULD get the vinyl "wood" floors throughout the living room and dining room. We were all set to move in, and the DAY BEFORE MOVE-IN, they called to confirm our move-in date and to let us know they were putting in new carpet in the morning. We said that we were promised vinyl flooring and they said that it would be $25/month. After many phone calls and pleading, we got NO WHERE. They admitted it was their mistake, but that they simply were not going to do anything about it. They lie, are under-trained, and cannot be human to save their lives. You don't want to live under this type of management. Also they have a HUGE roof RAT problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will tell you that the rat problem is under control, but don't be fooled. IT IS NOT! They just love to tell you things to get you in the door and pay all of the fees… See More>

I would not recommend these apartment complexes.I've lived in these apartments for almost three years now and I'm so glad I'm moving because I can't even sleep in my own living room or in my own bedroom past 8 a.m. because the front office schedules leaf blowers to arrive at 7:30 in the morning and they are noisy around my apartment during the morning from 8 a.m. to 10. and I can't even sleep in because of all the noise. Also all of the apartment buildings are infested with roof rats. Seems like the leaf blowing crew doesn't have any rules to follow because they start their leaf blowers over and over again and there is about 5 men who do this job and they all start their leaf blowers over and over again near my apartment and I can't even sleep I'm forced to wake up..

I lived here for a year and somewhat enjoyed my stay. While every complex has its issues, I do have to agree with what others wrote regarding the roof rat issue. This should be a PRIORITY 1 as the property needs to do more to cut back the trees and keep up with the landscaping, as well as have the dumpster emptied more frequently during busy times (end of month moves outs, etc). I found dead branches existing in many of the trees and in some places dead trees due fro the lack of water. There are also other shrubs that lacked water and are left in their dead state with no remedy. The place is also not immune to the battle of doggie do just like any complex or HOA. What to do to teach persons to be responsible petowners. The complex is good about getting on the persons, if you are able to identify the culprit. Some places in NJ obtain a DNA sample and trace it back to the owner. Seems extreme but sometimes extreme situations call for extreme measures. The interior of the unit is acceptable. One concern that is not an issue caused by management… See More>

Scottsdale Highlands "luxury" apartments are tucked into the Foothills of the McDowell Mountains in prestigious North Scottsdale. Our location is convenient for friendly roaches paying visits to your apartment, from time to time, hearing the pleasant thumping of roof rats in your walls and on your roof, and, not to mention, terrible landscapers that leave piles of moldy leaves on your front door step and back patio and who let the grass in the green belts die, until there's nothing left but mud. We are minutes from the 101 Freeway. With one, two, and three bedroom homes all of which have one or two unpleasant quirks, including, but not limited to: spiders, centipedes, strange smells and leaks from your broken AC unit that hasn't been replaced since the apartments were first built, and potting soil in your front yard that makes your dog sick when they accidentally eat it, you are sure to find the perfect fit! Scottsdale Highlands welcomes you and your pet to visit us today, but once you move in, everyone who works in the office is too "busy" to assist you, or fix any of the aforementioned problems.

As a prospective resident i was highly impressed with the maintenance men i met, especially Richard. Wow, what a gem. But Amy like other reviews stated did not introduce herself and acted like she could care less that i was there. Todd was helpful. The apts are decent and the grounds too but honestly there was no feeling of warmth or personality. Prices are high too. Close to lots of good stores and schools so it all depends what you are looking for.

Broken AC for a year, freon leak they WON'T fix; lawyer says they are " The most difficult company they ever tried to talk to". $350 average electric bill, 1200 sq ft. Roof rats. Disgusting transient odors in the apatment, rotting garlic / poop. Rude LAZY management. They are always "too busy" to talk to anyone or repair anything. We wanted to move out because of the broken AC and they threatened to sue us for the entire remainder of the lease. Lived here a total of five years. This company took over in March. They are horrible! This property is falling apart and they will sign just about anybody onto at lease. This used to be a nice community of decent residents, many long term, like us. Not anymore. Olen Living seems to have one aim: turning this community into a ------. Mission accomplished.

During my almost year here I have had roof rat issues, a horse fly infestation, a dishwasher that has broken time after time, and numerous other things in the apartment that have broken and gone wrong. Unfortunately the furthest we've gotten ever is an acknowledgement from the staff that they know the rats are an issue yet they never really even seem to do anything about it. I would not recommend this complex to anyone I know unless it was someone I disliked as it has been an utterly horrible living experience.

This is a below average apartment community and the rent rates are SKY HIGH VERY EXPENSIVE. NOT WORTH STAYING HERE.. Leasing agents - front desk do not respond to residents problems and lack leasing agent skills!! Leasing Community Manager Amy is NOT approachable, NOT accessible to residents. When ever you go to leasing office to meet Amy, the only answer you get is that Amy is NOT AVAILABLE and is busy in meetings.. I bet, I could have met the OLEN Living higher management easily instead of making attempts to meet Amy for leasing problems and other a community manager, Amy should give residents priority and address all their problems and concerns...Previous management and staff were very responsive and addressed every single problem.. With this new OLEN management utility billing is completely screwed up and is not transparent! The bill a resident receives is $X and management charges additional amount stating discrepancy in the utility bill every single month. When we go to the leasing office, we do not get any response from the leasing agents and all they say is that the so called the only leasing community manager Amy has access to Utility Billing.… See More>

I moved to the Highland Apartments because of the clean, safe and perfect location, as well as the convenience of having so many things near by. I was greeted by an agent (Diana) with a warm, professional and friendly welcoming and was shown an apartment that was available. After living here for over 6 months now I have had excellent, continual care and any maintenance issues, were always handled immediately and professionally. The complex is always peaceful and quiet and very well managed. Everyone in the office is incredibly kind, they all go above and beyond to make sure any needs are handled to my satisfaction and promptly resolved. I do highly recommend this apartment complex and thank Diana for all her ongoing professionalism.

I went to look at apartments today and had chosen The Highlands, as an option. Went into the office and there was one leasing agent (blonde girl) who was assisting another guest/resident. She saw me come in and didn't even acknowledge me or say she'd "be right with me". I sat down, patiently, as she continued to assist the other guest. As soon as she was finished and the guest left, another couple came into the office after me. She acknowledged them first and then looked at me and asked "how she could help me". I told her I was interested in looking at 1-bedroom floor plans. She then proceeded to tell the couple who arrived AFTER me, to sit at the desk where she was and continued to talk to me while I was getting up from the table (approximately 5-6 feet away from her). She then says "i don't have any 1 bedroom floor plans to show at this time, sorry." And that was it. I looked at her, puzzled, and then said "Ok? When will any be available?" She seemed 'inconvenienced' when I asked, looked at her sheet and said "not until November". She didn't bother asking… See More>

I actually liked my apartment, it was renovated, clean when I moved in and everything was in good working order. However, as others have mentioned, the office staff was really difficult to deal with. They are nice and professional on the day you visit the complex, then once you sign the lease, they treat like you are the biggest annoyance to them. I would walk into the office with my rent check in my hand, and no one would look up or acknowledge me. I never got a live person on the phone if I called, and messages were never returned. I realize that the quality of the apartment is more important than how nice the staff is, but it made me feel bad about living there when the staff is clearly so miserable. I never know why people choose careers working with the public when they dislike the public. I moved out when my lease was up.

I think our air vents are connected to the neighbors because there are always nauseating smells coming from them. The apartment office solution for this problem is to bug bomb my apartment to clear out the smell which would damage all of my furniture. also if you need to go month to month they will increase your rent by $500 a month even though your contract states 150$. They never return your calls despite their promises and they are extremely rude after you sign a lease. I highly discourage anyone from living here.

Management changed 3 times in the course of a year, in which only one seemed to know how to successfully manage a community. Water was turned off for 15 hours one day, in which residents were left to fend for themselves. Management did not address the residents about the issue until a month later, in which only an apology was issued in a newsletter. There are much nicer complexes within walking distance for a better price.
