Resident 1997 - 2003

4/6/2003

First off, this complex is no longer known as The Signature at Scottsdale Horizon - it is now simply called The Signature.

I have been a tenant at The Signature since the beginning of 1997, and still reside here. The rents are raised with each new lease, but incentives are offered when you resign a lease, so the actual increase is reasonable. Each apartment features tan walls, with white [HIGH!] ceilings and crown moldings. The kitchens feature all black appliances. All bathrooms have roman tubs in them. The floor plans are interesting and work well.

Apartments that face Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard may be noisy, as double paned windows are NOT used in these units, however, interior or courtyard apartments are very quiet and well landscaped.

Management is VERY effective and any issues are dealt with immediately. Maintenance is also very responsive and problems are fixed or repaired ASAP. There are off-duty Scottsdale Police Officers that act as Courtesy Patrols in the evenings, and there is a 24 hour maintenance emergency number.

You will have to pay for cable TV, since even basic is not offered as a standard service, which in this caliber of apartment complex, basic cable should be included in the rent.

Cable Services are offered by a company that has changed names and ownership MANY, MANY MANY times. The cable service is extremely poor, and The Signature has been trying to legally get out of this contract for YEARS, thusfar, unsuccessfully. The complex is unable to get COX for phone, long distance, cable, or high speed internet, while the current cable contract is in effect. The cable is also EXTREMELY overpriced for what you get.

Parking is ample and well lit, but again, a complex of this caliber should be a gated community, and The Signature seems to resist this.

All normal services (water, trash, etc) are included with your rent. The City of Scottsdale allows a "renters tax", and your monitored alarm system (every apartment has one) adds $8.00 - $9.00 per month to your rent as well. There is a HEFTY pet deposit of $300.00 (of which half is refundable), and pet rent runs $15.00 per month. Be sure to factor in these costs, when calculating your actual rent.

The location of the complex is close to food stores, major shopping centers, restaurants, parks, bike paths, and lies in an EXCELLENT neighborhood (Scottsdale Horizon). You are also less than five minutes from the 101.

Although I have seen two scorpions in the past seven years, I have NEVER seen any ants or roaches. Pest control is provided weekly, to those units requiring it, for no cost.

All appliances are top rate and work well. Heating and air conditioning work well too, although the HVAC unit can be a bit loud in certain units.

Management sponsors breakfasts, parties, and other events and contests, has a monthly newsletter, and always seems on top of things, as well as being very friendly, accomodating, and helpful.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!
