Resident 2011 - 2012

5/7/2012

Positives: Location, Location, Location. You can walk to anywhere in downtown Scottsdale. I haven't had any issues with the staff, they're all nice and have helped me out anytime I've needed anything. But that's their job so no awards for being adequate. There are no real hidden fees. They make sure to tell you about the concierge garbage pick up and stuff, so it's no surprise. I'd say my water, taxes, and garbage pickup bill is only 50 or so more bucks than my rent. I've lived places where all the monthly fees added up to quadruple that. Negatives: First of all make sure you see your actual apartment before moving in. The ones they show are way nicer than the average ones, although even those aren't great. Old ugly counters, floors, and bathrooms. They just caulked over really dirty grout, but it is still noticeable, and can't be cleaned. The bathtub is worn down and gross, but I was told unless the enamel of the entire bathtub is missing, it won't be replaced. It has an extremely small kitchen, and horrible appliances. My oven has no window, so in order to check on food I have to open it, which cools the oven and throws off the cooking. My dishwasher is almost useless, I end up having to rewash half of my dishes. There is very little cabinet space so I had to put half my kitchen stuff in storage, and can't use it. The inside of all the cabinets are made of particle board, but not the kind with fake wood lining, so most of mine contain stains from previous tenants. It's very off putting looking at permanent red stains. I've covered them with shelf paper, but that's something no tenant should have to do. Unless you live up high and have a view of the southern sky COX cable is all you can get in this location, and it's horrible. If you insist on living here get a place on the fourth floor, and don't get one on the alley or streets, unless you like being woken up every night of the week by drunken club rats, and D-Bags. Plus those Scottsdale golf carts are constantly whizzing by, some of them blaring music, all of them containing people who can't seem to accept a ride without screaming like they're on a roller-coaster. Watch out for the idiots who insist on squealing their tires around every turn of the parking garage, and there are plenty that live here, I've almost been run over a few times walking to get my mail. Unfortunately the most noticeable of those who live here are pure trash. They throw beer cans around the grounds. Also so many refuse to pick up after their pets. And if you live on the inside near the garage, they don't have grass, just rocks, so the area never gets watered, and the dog piss doesn't ever get diluted. So that area constantly smells of pet urine and excrement residue, if not just pure excrement from those who refuse to pick up after their pets. Tons of drunk loud people live here too. I love to go out and drink a ton, but unlike my neighbors I can manage to walk home without screaming in the hallway. Once every few months I have to be up early on a Saturday, which is an impossibility living here. I'm sure there a ton of decent people who live here, but the loudest and most obvious residents are inconsiderate at best.
