Resident 2009 - 2010

8/26/2010

Oh, geez, where to start. First of all, this place is way overpriced. Yeah, it's nice, I'm not going to deny that. But it's not as nice as they charge for it. At first glance, the place seems luxurious but on closer inspection (and a bit of living in the unit), you start to notice that the kitchen counters are cheap, the floors are cheaper, the walls are painted with the flattest paint they could find so that if you even have a piece of furniture against the wall it will be stained and you will have to repaint it (or pay some of their wonderful move out fees), and the carpets are easily stained (much to their benefit) among other things. Also, the apartments are not well built or put together. So on top of everything else, you get to hear everything your neighbor is doing AND have the toilet paper holder fall off when you reach for some. Yay! Secondly, they will threaten to and eventually fine you for anything. Oh, do you have something on your balcony that is not strictly approved patio furniture? FINE. Do you leave your garage open during the day for short periods? FINE. Did you mistakenly put your garbage out before or after the ridiculous and stringent time frame? FINE. Well, I suppose for the latter, you could have just thrown your trash in the dumpster. OH WAIT, it's already overflowing. Believe me, if you live here for a year they will find something to fine you over, or at least threaten you with. Thirdly, the prissy look-a-likes with their fake sweet voices in the front office are, for the most part, not there to help you. They are there to tell you exactly why they can't help you and the few times they can help you, they take forever to do it. A few simple requests we asked of Melanie, the property manager, took an unreasonable amount of time for her to grant and some never were granted. For example, we asked for receipt for maintenance done to our apartment. Their lawyer said they can't give receipts. Well, a work order at least? Melanie says sure. Yeah right. That never happened. Fourthly, the premises are not as well-kept as they should be. The gate breaks often, which is just dandy and makes one feel really secure. I tried to go in the hot tub one day to discover it wasn't working properly and, on top of that, was emitting a horrible stench. There is litter and pet excrement everywhere. And I already addressed the trash issue. FINALLY, the best part!! Move-out fees! WOOT! We left our apartment immaculate, however we still ended up with over $1300 in move out fees. Why? THE CARPET. We paid over $100 to have our carpet professionally cleaned but it was still not enough. Because they had a black light. So they could see every invisible stain. And they don't just replace pieces of carpet. Nope, if the black light finds one stain (and it will) the entire apartment's carpet is getting replaced at a whopping total of $1200 . Isn't that awesome? So for future tenants, I'd suggest you place plastic covering over the carpets if you would like to live here. And for people with pets, don't bother unless you have money to just throw away.
