Admittedly my roommates cat did some minor damage to the apartment. This amounted to a 2 x 2 area in the master bathroom that may have cost $50 to fix. When we moved out they charged us $350 plus our pet deposit of $300. The carpet was old and in need of repair when we moved in (the office staff told us on the move in walk through that she apologized for the old carpet but that it would be replace when we renewed and that it really should have been removed already) but apparently they were just looking to have us foot the bill for the whole apartment. When we challenged this we were immediately turned over to collections. We asked how they arrived at the number and no response. We've shown forms from the apartment and cancelled checks to no avail. At present we are just paying the charge after contesting this for a year just to get it over with.
