Resident 2010

8/8/2011

I lived here in a two bedroom apartment for half a year and was happy to move out. I can't say maintenance was bad, but one time my dishwasher wasn't draining the water and the maintenance man claimed to fix and it wasn't. I didn't use it very much, so didn't care for it. My apartment had a roach problem before moving in. The office told us about it after we signed the lease papers , stating someone was going to enter and spray. This delayed us from completely unpacking, because we didn't want roach poison on our stuff. There is a big problem with dogs. Tenants that have large dogs, especially multiples of them, let them crap almost everywhere and don't clean up. I've never seen the office staff address and enforce this issue. I never felt completely safe. I have heard of cars being broken into. I'm always cautious walking around at night, because the lack of street lights near Eighth Street. I've heard the office staff has been an ongoing issue. When we moved in, the staff was helpful for the most part. But halfway through our lease they changed and the new staff was rude and ignorant. Our last month bill had to be prorated because we were moving out in the middle of the month. When calling the office to find out our last rent bill, they kept giving us a higher number than what we calculated, about $90. I should mention they were rude and acted as if their calculation is right without question. We had to meet them personally to see how they were calculating the bill and found their problem to be a simple wrong math operation. We scheduled a move-out walkthrough and when it was time, they claim the person responsible for that could not make it and would be back in a few hours. We were tired of dealing with them we agreed to turn-in the keys and see what outrageous costs they'll throw at us. And of course they charged us over $150. I will admit the kitchen was not completely well cleaned and the dishwasher had some water left in it (remember wasn't fully fixed), but somehow they stuck us with a charge to paint the apartment given we lived there for six months and can't remember placing anything on the walls. We were planning to leave Tempe in the summer and needed a lease shorter than Foxfire's six months. We found a smaller apartment that gave us a short lease. It was worse than Foxfire in the category of safety (suspicious people) and noise, but didn't result into problems. Wished we would've found out about it sooner and saved money and time.
