Resident 2010 - 2011

10/1/2011

If you are looking for a place to live for a long time (a year or so), I wouldn't recommend this condominium, and I am going to explain why. The apartments are small for their price. You can definitely get a bigger space at a gated community for the same money that you are paying here. Not only the apartments are small, but they are entirely in one color: beige. The carpet is beige, the tile in the kitchen floor is beige, the walls and ceiling (they have popcorn ceiling and walls by the way), counter-tops, cabinets and bath tub are all beige. This might not seem like a big deal at first, and you might be fine with it for six months or so. But a year or more looking at an apartment entirely beige is too much to handle. The amenities are ok. The gym is not great but has the basic. You can open it with your own key which is good so you can go in/out at any time. The same goes for the pool. The only bad thing about the pool is that on weekends it is kind of dirty. Parking is ok. The only bad and not humanitarian thing at all is that they have a pigeon problem. And the way that they found to control it is killing the pigeons by keeping them in a cage on the sun until they die. If you ask, they are going to say that they take down the pigeons and kill them, but in reality they don't. Safety wasn't that big of an issue for me. Lastly, you have to be careful because they do like to get as much of your money as they can. For example, they didn't tell me at move in that the fee that I was paying allowed me to get one of the walls in the room painted so it is not beige (1 wall for $100 is still a lot, but I would like it). At move out, they charged cleaning for things that I am 100% that were clean. It wasn't too much money, but the problem is not the price. The problem is that they would choose to go down that rode. I've also met somebody who wanted one kind of apartment with a certain number of rooms for a determined time period, and then change to a smaller apartment after some time. So he was looking for a lease shorter than one year. He was told that he couldn't sign a shorter lease, so he was forced to sign a lease in a more expensive apartment for longer than what he wanted. But I am 100% sure that they offer shorter leases, because I've seen people here with leases as short as 3 months. So again, they did not provide 100% accurate information on this case. That is one of the main reasons why I wouldn't live here. You have to choose somewhere that has good apartments, but that you can also trust that they won't pull any tricks on you. My top reason to not live here is that you can get a better square footage for exactly the same price (believe me, I was so mad when I saw how big my friends' places were at gated communities for the same price that I was paying). If the apartments are smaller, one would wish that they were at least updated (nothing over the top, but a few nice things here and there), but that is not even the case.
