Don Martin Apartments
Resident · 2005 - 2007
I lived in one of these studios immediately after the renovations were completed in 2005. I remember having a lot of plumbing problems, and some of the work during the renovation was carelessly done, so the apartment fell into disrepair fairly quickly. The landlord ignored my requests to fix the problems, and he also had a very annoying habit of sliding rude notes (about the "rules") under people's doors. Maintenance folks entered my apartment more than once without providing any advance notice, too. One of the times, I was sleeping in my bed, and in barged maintenance men with their keys, just like it was their home and not mine! I have to say the landlord was very disrespectful to tenants--I did not receive any of my security deposit back, and when I asked for an itemized summary of the charges, the landlord was snarky about providing it. Also, the parking lot is so cramped, that someone once hit my car trying to back out of a space. There is reserved street side parking available, but since Don Martin is located directly across from a busy bar, expect to have your windows broken out at least once during your tenancy. You may guess (and correctly so) from the very lengthy lease agreement that this is one high-maintenance landlord! This place is way overpriced for the square footage, despite the cute accouterments. Keep looking; you can do better than Don Martin Apartments.
