Resident 2017

3/13/2018

I signed a 13 month lease here, but only lived here for 5 months before I had enough and moved out. Noise: The floors are so thin it sounded like the upstairs neighbors were doing jumping jacks through out the apartment everyday. Not exaggerating, it was very loud. Could even hear them vacuuming at 4:00 am, not the apartments fault, just rude neighbors. Still, I could hear everything. Even every time they went to the bathroom you could hear them urinate and flush. There were also several domestic disputes at 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning to where police had to be called (Not by me). Grounds: On the Main office (Broadway) side, it looked very nice. But, the side I was on, the secondary office (Jessica) side, it looked a hot mess. Pieces of the apartment walls were chipped and broken, paint was peeling of the walls, greenery was wild and un-kept, the pool was open once for only a few days (maybe 3), because it was always dirty. There was trash and dog feces almost everywhere, they didn't enforce the picking up behind your pet rule, as I'm walking on the sidewalk, I almost stepped in a huge dog dropping. Unfortunately, there's much more. Neighborhood: That was probably one of, if not the only, good thing about the place. The location was smack in the middle of everything, stores, malls, schools, etc. Everything in walking distance. That part was awesome. Which has to be why you pay so much, for location. Only thing, I didn't enjoy being so close to the corner of a major street. It was a pain trying to turn into or get out of the complex during rush hours. Maintenance: That's a joke! I had to fill out the walk though 5 times, because they said they didn't have it on file. Which was an entire page long, and attached to the walk through check off sheet. There were exposed wires, the toilet and bathtub, in the hallway bathroom, didn't work at all. Made that bathroom virtually unusable. Unless you were washing your hands, it was unusable. My guests had to come through the bedroom to use my bedroom bathroom. Took them 2 months just to put a shower spout and plug in the bathtub/shower. Yes not just a shower head, a spout. It was just a whole in the wall. Took them 4 months to replace the toilet. This is after me contacting them every week for 2 months. Sometimes twice a week. The major stuff took them almost 3 months, and a letter from an attorney, to finally fix. Then, after a couple months I started getting roaches. Someone told me it may have been from the tenants above me who moved out, finally. I asked them on several occasions to have pest control come, but nothing ever happened. I got a call from the office asking if my issues had been fixed, after 3 months. When I told them no, they said maintenance put in that everything was completed. No one had been to my unit since I moved in. That was only SOME of the issues, there were lots more. Staff: They were very nice and friendly, but had no knowledge of my reports. I can semi understand since when I went in to the office on 3 different occasions and saw completely different people. But, there should had been a better filing system in place. I also emailed them twice after the fact. Overall: After 4 months, I got tired of constantly contacting them, even sending a letter from my attorney, regarding my issues. The fourth month I served them a 10 day notice to fix all my issues or I was leaving. Two days later maintenance was there with a new toilet and spend probably and hour if not more fixing things. Unfortunately for them, the entire work order was not complete. Therefore, I was able to legally vacate without any penalty. They told me they wouldn't evict me due to non payment (which they couldn't anyway), but instead charge me for breaking the lease. I'd like to see them try, I gave them my forwarding address and phone number to contact me. Unless some major changes happen, or you're in a bind and need a place quick until you find something better (6 month lease only). I would never recommend anyone move into these apartments, long term.
