Try Sahara and I bet you ll never go anywhere else. I know I won t. I use the hotel side of Sahara as opposed to the dorm side. The longer your stay, the cheaper the rates. It feels like a home away from home with free wireless or cable hookup, hundreds of TV channels, a full sized fridge, microwave, and 4 burner stove complete with cookware and dishes. The rooms are clean, with lots of closet space. The balconies look over the pool or a big park next door. Residents also have free use of the gym, movie theatre, cable or satellite tv with lots of channels, a game room, and use of their computer room. Their air conditioning can be amped up to be quite cool. You want that in Tucson. They also have a sweet little coffee shop on their grounds with great breakfasts and coffee, more internet, and all the extra supplies you need for day to day living, cooking, washing, etc. They have great security, too. The residence and the parking lot are behind security gates, and I've seen the monitors in the main office showing where cameras surveil the premises. The staff is what makes the stay especially wonderful. Every person on the staff goes out of their way to do the best job they can for you. They are funny and friendly and truly service oriented. Their computer guy fixed MY laptop for free when I couldn t get a wireless signal in my room and I discovered my software was at fault. During another stay it turned out he had to rig a whole new wireless address specifically for my room, but he did it with a smile and a sense of accomplishment. The receptionist came up to my room to make sure it was working. Their maintenance guy Billy goes out of his way to make sure everything is ok. Anything I asked for he was happy to help. And their cleaning crew is outstanding. One day I cooked up a complex meal in my room and left pots and pans and dishes in the sink for later. I found them cleaned when I came home! I'm not sure if this is typical, but it was much appreciated! Every time I passed by a housekeeper they would ask if eveyrthing was OK or if I need any towels or soap. Sahara s manager Ted immediately sets the tone of humor, patience, and warmth that makes you feel like you are visiting the home of a wonderful uncle and you happen to be his favorite. Every time I have stayed there, Ted did something out of his way for me as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Once he stayed an hour after closing because I was coming in late and he wanted to make sure I understood how to use the keys and knew my way around the complex. This is typical treatment at Sahara! By the time you leave, you have become part of their family. They are just such good people. I highly recommend this place. This is old fashioned service at its best with nice reasonable prices.
