Resident 2011 - 2012

7/13/2012

This complex is a nightmare. 1) Parking is first-come, first-serve. I don't have a car, so this isn't a problem for me, but just fyi, I only see open spaces during regular working hours. 2) Noise is AWFUL. Sometimes, it's nice, quiet, peaceful...but I live near some people who LOVE to have huge gatherings, complete with loud music, kids, dogs, you name it, it's screaming. And sometimes, you hear some pretty profane things. 3) Grounds are okay. Has some nice trees. There are parts of the lawn that always have pools of water. The sidewalks are cleanish, but if something breaks, no one cleans it until someone notices. There's often glass, especially after the aforementioned parties. 4) Safety is really not that great. I live right next to drug addicts; I've had cops come to my door at 2 am, asking about them. Laundry thefts happen on occasion. 5) The construction is fairly cheap. Things need replacing. The cabinets are the cheapest of particle board, and the paint is shoddy. 6) Maintenance is one of the worst things about this place. My current maintenance request is six months old. My bathroom faucet has leaked for a year. The shower water is lukewarm, at best. The closet doors in both rooms are either sticky or broken. It took a month or so just to get them to give me a rack for my oven. 7) The staff aren't great. They tend to be short and terse. One woman has this constant attitude like she'd rather be anywhere else than in that office. There is one young woman in there who is a delight, and I try to talk with her anytime I'm in the office. 8) Other things of note: The staff doesn't keep track of how much your rent is. They just let you give them a check for whatever, and then get mad when it's off by a quarter. My electric bill is RIDICULOUS. The a/c might be free, but I don't pay any less in electric than I did at my last apartment where I had to pay for a/c. Also, the a/c sucks. The complex decides when to turn it to hot or cold, so when spring comes around and you're ready for the heat to go off, the management waits another month to turn the heat off. The rent is also astronomical for what this place offers. It's $445 for a studio. $300 deposit for pets, plus $10 pet rent. The neighborhood sucks. Everything's cheap, nothing gets fixed...no one should pay this much for this kind of treatment.
