Resident 2011

7/16/2011

I've read the previous comments and experiences and although they are location specific, honestly, they could be the comments of ANY apartment ANY where in the country at any given time? Remember the old saying, you can't please everyone all the time? Sadly, some people have negative experiences because they themselves are negative people and create problems with their surroundings- mainly to serve as a distraction, because they are generally disatisfied with life and they project their unhappiness onto other people so they don't have to do anything about it. However, I have been renting for over 5 years and have had some very bad experiences with office staff in apartment offices, too. And I was mad about it! But that isn't a defining moment of that person, people have bad days! As a consumer we have the right to not do business with people who are rude or what have you. But to say that someone is this way or that way is really silly because you don't know what they have been dealing with before you came into the office with your problems. First of all the economy has really changed the way that people do business, and people who have lost their jobs and were desperate to find another job has put some people in customer service positions that they don't really belong in them. To them I say good day, and I hope that the economy improves that that you can go back to a job that fits your ego better. I love Somerpointe because the floor plans are spacious and the grounds are well kept. The money in the budget has obviously gone towards things that at the end of the day really improve the tenant's life and help save them money. Susan has a great deal of experience in both property management and also real estate, but even though she's been in the business a long time she hasn't forgotten what it is like for the people she serves in her community. I chose my words carefully in the above statement, because Susan SERVES people's best interests. Granted she has a boss and works for a company that, like EVERY business in the entire universe has a bottom line, and that is to be thrivant. But she doesn't have an ego like many Property Managers have. She doesn't get off on putting people in their places and enforcing and hiding behind rules and community policy. She is kind and empathetic. She REALLY loves people (lots of people try to say they do when they are in the interview for a customer service job and they are desperate, but nothing could be further from the truth) and that is why she is in customer service. To put it simply, she gets it! Without people to rent apartments she will not have a job. So to say that she is just in it for the money or that she doesn't care or that she says all the right things and doesn't do anything is just not true. If it were she wouldn't have a job. I'm sorry if people have had negative experiences but I haven't, I love my home at Somerpointe. And so do the majority of my neighbors! I plan to live here with my little girl till I can buy a house for myself. Also, speaking of my neighbors, I know for a FACT there are a handful of poeple who have lived here for YEARS who would leave Somerpointe and rent at whatever community Susan was a manager at. Talk about loyalty. And the Maintenance staff go over and above their job discriptions. They are very skilled and Memo, the Maintenance Manager, is well respected and LOVED by the people that he helps. He is a kind man who values his job and he works very hard. Even when it is over 100 degrees outside, he always has a smile on his face! I love my home, my neighbors love it too! I'm not going to say it's perfect because that is impossible. But it is a nice place to live. If you have a problem or need something repaired the staff has always taken care of it with a smile. There aren't many apartments like Somerpointe, because the people who live there know one another and watch out for eachother. It really is a COMMUNITY in the truest sense of the word.
