Resident 2010 - 2013

9/15/2013

When my husband got stationed in Yuma, a little over two years ago, we had to find an apartment to rent fast. Clueless about the Yuma area, we decided to ask a few friends that were familiar with the area, for suggestions about where to move. It all came down to Rio Santa Fe the nicest apartments in town, but looks can be deceiving. After viewing the beautiful demo apartments, we made our decision to lease and rent with Rio Santa Fe. It wasn t long after we moved in that the problems and true colors of this apartment complex started to show through. After we signed the lease, we had to wait a week to move in; they needed to get the apartment ready. I honestly don t know what they did because our apartment was a complete mess when we moved in. It was dirty and smelled horrible! After two days of deep cleaning and lots of carpet freshener, we were able to remove the nastiness of the people before us. It was not a good way to start out our stay here. The only positive thing I have to say about Rio Santa Fe is the beautiful park and jog trail that is next to the apartment complex. The park and trail are kept very clean, but that s only because Rio Santa Fe does not own it. If they did, I can assure you it would be a dump like the rest of the complex. The two pools they offer as amenities are always dirty and closed down for maintenance; this also goes for the laundry stations they offer as well. The laundry machines are like gambling and in this case the odds are against you. After numerous complaints about the laundry machines being broken and taking our money they still have yet to fix any of them. We were also told they no longer deal with the company that the washers and dryers are from. Then why do they still have them? Another huge issue is the parking they offer. The space they have for parking is big, but they want you to pay for the covered parking, which is the majority of the spaces. The few free spaces they offer are mostly overtaken by trailers and unused cars. Most days my husband and I find ourselves parking outside the complex because all the free spaces are taken. Nobody wants to pay for parking at the place where you live! Out of the many issues we have had while living here, the lack of communication between the front office and its maintenance staff is the worse one of them all. For months on end we told both the office & maintenance our air conditioning was not working properly. We would have the AC on all day, but it would not cool off our apartment. Still nothing was done until the motor in our AC unit caught on fire and almost burned down our apartment. Even then they still did everything they could not to replace the old, broken parts. We had to take matters into our own hands and call the corporate office; it was only then that we saw results. Since the AC incident last summer, it s seems we are at the office every week with more and more maintenance issues. Things in our apartment seem to be falling apart on a regular basis; probably because of the lack of up keep and outdated appliances. Nothing like the demo apartment or appliances we saw before we moved in! Another huge issue is the lack of workers the main office has. The main office is supposed to be opened six days a week. You re lucky if they are there for at least 4 of those days. With the office being closed so often it makes it extremely difficult to receive packages, considering the packages are only dropped off at the main office. I have had numerous packages sit in the office for days because no one showed up to the main office to work. They also fail to tell you when your package arrives. If you are expecting something in the mail, its daily trips to the office until you receive it. Overall, Rio Santa Fe Apartments are nothing like they are described or made out to be. I would never recommend these apartments to anyone. Unless, you enjoy living in dirty, outdated apartments and dealing with rude, lazy workers. Rio Santa Fe is not a place for you or your family. Thank God our lease is up!
