Barcelona Resort Apartments

I have lived in the Barcelona apartments for 3 years. Since I first moved in the complex has deteriorated. They used to have stringent criteria for prospective tenants, but now it seems like they will let just about anyone in. The parking has become unbearable. Get home by 6 pm if you want to park anywhere near your apartment. They do not enforce any of the parking regulations so why even have them. They do nothing for quiet enjoyment. I can't count the number of times that I've been annoyed by noisy guests and tenants at 1 in the morning or later. The apartments themselves are in horrible condition. In the past 6 months I've had no less than 5 MAJOR problems within the apartment that required immediate attention. None was given. The power went out during the double digit heat during the summer and all they did was bring glow sticks for walkways. The power was out for more than 24 hours. Keep in mind that it was not Southern California Edison's problem, it was an internal problem. The complex offered no compensation to tenants for spoiled food or for inconvenience. All utilities are paid by the tenant, which would not be a problem if the apartments were properly insulated. A/C bills in the summer exceeded $500 per month in the summer (2006.)The stove and microwave are old and almost useless. The carpet was horrible when we first moved in. It was dirty and stained and should have been replaced. It was pulled so far you could see lines in it where it was strained. Maintenance staff is not considerate of any living space. They track in mud and dirt and do not clean up their own messes when completed with a task. The ants are a serious, serious problem. I've never seen an exterminator here in three years. The leasing staff takes it upon theselves to enforce imaginary rules when they're bored. Oh I could go on for days, but I'll stop now. Just keep looking. This place is not worth it.
