Allow me to first say, I have lived at the Villager for 3 years... The location is perfect for my wife and I being centrally located to work for us. For the first 6 months we loved it, no issues, no real major issues. Then the front office staff left, and rules and enforcement of those rules began to change. The front office staff is switched/changed VERY frequently, occasionally it's people competent but usually it's a new pretty face with no ability to communicate. We came to our second year, still very happy with the location but the complex overall had become so-so, we were told when we signed our lease we would be eligible for a "significant" discount next year and that was enough to detour us from wanting to pack and move, our rent went up, and service continued to diminish. Over the course of the second year we were told we would have to pay a pet deposit for the small bird we have, the same bird we had since prior to moving, the same bird that we were told didn't require that deposit when we moved in. A good friends vehicle was towed from our assigned car port, a practice that had been done literally dozens of times and was told By the initial staff was OK... After weeks of arguing we were out over $200 in towing fees. Coming into the third year I was entirely ready to leave, but my wife was not looking forward to packing and moving, tempted by the "significant" discount we would be getting we stayed. When it came time to sign a lease there was no discount to be had. The "discount" is a percentage discount over what they call "Market Price" of the unit, a fictional number that is over $300 higher than the rent being asked. In short here is a list of the frequent problems we have had and reasons that we have chosen to leave
Poor to non-existent Management
Rude Employees (top to bottom throughout the organization )
Frequent Changes to parking
Poor Maintenance (they patch and jury-rig, but rarely put in the time to fix something correctly)
Constant notifications for need to enter your apartment
No Flexibility on maintenance times for those of us who work nights/odd hours
Poor enforcement of rules
Frequent Plumbing/Water issues (we have our water shut off about every 4-6 weeks for something or other)
On site security is constantly changing providers and is never on site
Many Vehicle Break ins
Poor Lighting because Maintenance doesn't keep up with repair/bulb changes
Proprietary card system (if the one machine breaks it takes 2-weeks to repair and there is no alternative on site)
Very expensive laundry ($1.35 wash $1.65 dry)
