Resident 2008 - 2010

There are a lot of comments about the complex being too expensive. I agree that it's pricey, but in fairness, you do get a lot for your money - the units are beautiful and spacious, and well laid out. At 1400 sq ft for a 3 br/2ba, it's like having your own home or condo, not an apartment. They are fairly quiet (no upstairs/downstairs neighbors to worry about, only connecting walls are via the garage), washer/dryer are included, have a two car attached garage, decent landscaping, the grounds are fairly clean and maintained, nice club house and pool area (when the pool and hot tub aren't full of frogs), adequate workout room, and have decent appliances. However, where the complex falls short is in the management and policies. We were served notice that our patio area (which is not private, btw, another issue I have with the complex) was cluttered and needed to be cleaned. All we had out there was a small table and chairs set (2 chairs), a grill (with the charcoal and starter chimney tucked into a corner), and a small tray table we kept to set whatever we were cooking on. Other people in the complex have HUGE patio sets, kiddie pools, toys, planters, etc strewn all over their patios and onto the lawn, and they were never told it was too cluttered. Management also seems to be under the impression that after an apartment is lived in for multiple years, everything will still be in pristine condition. We spent hours cleaning the apartment before vacating, and still were hit with a bill for a professional cleaning crew. Things were replaced in the apartment that were not in need of replacement (and we were charged for them - ridiculous things, like the tub stopper and light bulbs). We were told when we moved out that because we'd been there so long, we wouldn't be charged for repainting the apartment, yet we were (at a discounted rate, but charged nonetheless). All of our deposit was taken by these ridiculous charges because they seemed to be trying to bring the apartment back to "new" condition. So if you rent here, do not expect to get any of your deposit back. You won't see a dime of it. Also, maintenance issues are not dealt with in any kind of timely manner. It was nothing to wait more than a week to have major issues dealt with, and one took nearly two months. Calling the office did no good - each time we did, we were assured it was going to be taken care of, then the days would drag by. Another issue I have, as mentioned above, is that the patio areas afford no privacy what-so-ever - your patio faces another across the way, no barriers at all. So anyone can just walk up onto your patio at any time. The neighbor's dog always pooped on my patio, and they never cleaned it up. And more than once, I caught some creepy neighbor kid on my patio, taunting my dog through the window. And if you have your patio blinds open, your across the court neighbors can easily see into your home. We kept them closed almost all the time, just to allow ourselves some privacy. The complex is pet friendly, however, management doesn't seem willing to enforce the "dogs must be on leash" rule. There were MANY dogs allowed to run loose in the complex, doing their business wherever they felt like, with the owners not bothering to clean up after them. Also, while they claim that only "small pets" are allowed, I saw several very big dogs who lived in the complex. We wish that had been made an option for us, because we would have gotten a bigger dog had it been. Jasmine Parke is a nice complex with decent amenities, but the management leaves a lot to be desired, as does maintenance. And if you actually LIVE in your apartment, don't expect to ever see your security deposit again.
