Resident 2014 - 2015

9/15/2015

I remember the day we signed a lease, a man drove by and told us that this place is awful and that we shouldn't rent here. Kind of freaky, but it didn't turn out to be so bad. **Cons** -The worst thing that happened is that our bathroom sink backed up with this really stinky water and I had to shovel it out until it could be fixed. The maintenance crew came by and vacuumed everything out and it ended up happening again a few months later. -The first upstairs neighbors we had were very quiet and I barely knew they were up there. The next people who moved in had kids running around all day and into the night. As a student, I'm barely home, but it was frustrating when I was home. It's not something management can control, but the floors are quite creaky. -The ducks spent most of the time on the other side of the complex and when I'd walk to see them, there would be poop all over the sidewalk. The ponds are also smelly and attract a ton of bugs. We called it "the swarm." -Other than the swarm, bug problems were a nuisance but dealt with quickly. We had roaches when we moved in, but after the exterminator came we never saw them again. Honestly, we aren't the neatest people so I was sort of surprised. The ants got a little out of hand, coming from many different places, but the exterminators the complex hires are very good and come every week if you put your name on the list. -I don't think the pool actually has regular hours. It's sort of a hit or miss on whether it'll be open. When it is open, it gets crowded. The Jacuzzi was gross. I only went in once and instantly regretted it. **Pros** -Very quiet complex most of the time. Neighbors are friendly and keep to themselves from what I've seen. The walls to our apartment were very thick. I couldn't hear a thing from any of the adjacent neighbors. -Great location. I could get to Valley college in under 10 minutes on a good day and my roommate could walk to the bus stop in under 5 minutes. The proximity to the freeway is perfect. Lots of fast food joints nearby and cute restaurants in walking distance. Close to a Stater Brothers. -I never felt unsafe here. I get home from work at 12AM and I haven't had any safety related issues. Nothing has been stolen, but maybe we just got lucky. -The studio is huge for the price. Some of the things people have complained about are just unavoidable aspects of apartment life. tl;dr Great if you're living here short term. Definitely wouldn't recommend for anything longer.
