Resident 2005

12/18/2005

This place is NOT worth the money.

The only good things about the Seville are that the exterior is pretty, you get free cookies at the main office, and repairs are done quickly by a nice, friendly janitor

BUT

1. The apartments are cheaply constructed so things break a LOT. Dish-washer machine is so cheap it takes about 1 hr 30 mins to run. Walls are so thin you can hear the person next door snoring. I wish I were kidding. And they call this a "luxury apartment" complex.
2. The main manager is very rude and treats both student and nonstudent residents with impatience and condecension. If you have a noise problem with a neighbor the response is "call the police next time" or an insinuation that you are being too sensitive. If you have a mouse problem, then you should consider getting a cat (what the heck?!). Problem solving skills are 0 out of 5, as is her empathy. She basically wants problems off her plate, and you out of her office, pronto.
3. Management also lies - when I was deciding between possible apartment complexes I told the manager I felt the price was high - do they ever have specials like some of the other complexes in Davis? I was told "no way, we NEVER have specials of any kind" - later that SAME day they posted a sign on the property saying they had a special going on. Shocked, I called again, pretending to be a new inquiry, and was told all about the price adjustments that were being made and free bike or ipod I would get if I moved in.
4. Beautiful pool but pool-side furniture is broken and filthy - worse than at a 30$ night motel.
4. My move-in date was delayed because they "needed more time to paint and clean the carpets" - the carpets were clean, I'll give them that, but the place was definitely not repainted. Walls were dirty, had corner cobwebs etc. Also, there was grime all over the bathtubs and counter-tops so I had to clean the place myself before unpacking. A nice welcome gift.
5. A few months back there was a really nice employee working here, who was very helpful and considerate. And went out of his way to help me on several occasions in the way that you would expect from normal management. He was upfront with me about some of the management problems here. He's no longer working here. I wonder why. . . hmmm.
