Resident 2013 - 2015

5/27/2015

I've lived here for two years. It's a slightly older complex but well kept. The management is really good and friendly. It's in a great locotion by a food store and bus stop. It has an inner courtyard and pool that provide a relaxing environment. Overall I'd highly recommend this place ;)

Compared to my previous apartment experiences, Sterling Pointe is one of my top two favorites. The apartment manager is great; she is very personable, I always feel comfortable talking with her. She is always working so hard- she even renovated the club room which now has many study desks and even a keurig coffee machine!!. I've never had any issues with paperwork either, which happened too many times at other complexes. As a bonus, breakfast is free during finals week. My biggest problem with the complex was my living situation and when I needed to break the lease the manager went above and beyond what I expected to help me resolve the issue. The apartment itself is great too and is in a great location- it is close to Savemart and Safeway. I also loved the bus stops close by; they get to campus in 10 minutes. My only complaint would be that they could have been faster to fix things in my apartment- but this was only a minor inconvenience. Overall I would recommend living here, the rent is very reasonable.

Failure to Return Security Deposit, STAY AWAY

After leaving my apartment in a perfect condition, I had $200 of the security deposit used for cleaning and painting when it was not even needed. By law, the landlord cannot charge the tenant for cleaning and painting when it is not required. See landlord/tenant pdf: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/catenant.pdf

        LIVE SOMEPLACE ELSE!

Okay, so now that I'm no longer living here, I feel I can give a more honest review without being reprimanded or punished. Put simply, this apartment is one of the worst places I have ever lived in! 1) Overpriced: Rent is $1200/month (2 bed, 2 bath downstairs), but they charge you for EVERYTHING (water, trash, etc) in addition to PG&G. I'm not sure how they divvy up the bill between tenants, but just the water trash bill for my place was $130-150/month. Tack on about $15-20/month for PG&G depending on how much electricity you use... 2) Slow-speed internet: The internet is supposedly "high-speed" and is "free." With the rent already so high, you would think that the internet would be fast, but that's no where near reality. I would describe the speed as 56k on good days and like 10k during the bad days (it's about 10k nearly every day I was there). Kiss youtube, facebook, aim, etc goodbye... 3) Hulk Hogan (the maintenance man): He has eyes on the back of his head and is constantly watching everything you do. He lives in the apartment complex and can hear/watch everything you say. Literally. Bike in the parking lot or complex, and… See More>

          STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

The new apartment manager thinks she is the queen.
She can do aaprtment inspections as often as she wants.
Apartment is never clean enough for her. But also she thinks that she can rights to inspect your closets (haaaa!).
Place was OK until last year. Now stay away from this place as far as you can!

Great place to live. I love it here!!!!

I love living here. I rarely need to use my car because I'm so close to everthing I need. This is a small quiet place with all the ammenities a person needs. The pool always looks great as well as the rest of the property! Management is always helpful. I used to live in a 2 bedroom and switched to a 1 bedroom. I love my 1 bedroom floorplan. It has plenty of storage space and a huge kitchen!!!!

              not a good experience

I didn't like the ways the management handled things. Maintenance, communications.
The location is great though. What a pity.

                Just avoid this terrible place

                1. The old manager cheated us on outrageous NWP bills, which cost you over $100 bucks every month. Add to your rent and do the math.

2. Horrible maintenance man. No reponse at all under emergency. Rude, unfriendly and helpless

3. 3/7 working days. Do not expect to find a management staff to talk to and even worse, your complaint is no use at all.

4. In a word, the worst apartment I have ever lived in in CA. Just avoid it!!!

                    Good for the most part

                    Good Points:
* Location! 0.9 miles to campus (not 0.5 as they say, but still close), on G,F,P,Q,42A&B bus lines, 10 min. biking to campus, across the street from Albertson's/ Anderson Plaza, one block from Safeway/ Marketplace * Relatively quiet * Exercise room, lounge, pool * Apts. with 2 FULL baths (hard to find in North Davis)
The Less Desireable:
* TENANTS have to pay ALL utilities, including garbage, water, sewer (this year, for a 2BR/2BA, it was about $80-90 a month) * NO CENTRAL A/C (only wall unit in living room) * Management is nice and helpful most of the time, but sometimes can be a bit duplicitous and temperamental. * Minor cockroach issues

                      RATS / MICE

living here for a week and caught two mice and the manager wasn't helping either. she sent people to set mouse trap, then?? she said people live with mouse in this world, they kill it and they live again. so i guess she is fine about living with mice. if you can live with mice or rats.. i guess u will have a great communication with her. Also, they said here is farmland, seeing a mouse once in a while is expected. I am not quite sure about seeing two in a week is it okay?

                        The Good and the Bad

Sterling Pointe was a mixture of good and bad points. It was in the most excellent position from campus- either a 10 minute bike ride or bus ride(located conveniently on the G and F lines). The apartment was also a pretty good size- 2 roomy bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a big kitchen and a nice balcony if you were upstairs like me. The negative side was that they charged $1080 a month, which is a lot with only two people there. My apartment was also on the street and it was extremely noisy and loud the entire day and most of the night, but I think this can be avoided if you don't have my particular apartment.
We didn't have any major appliance problems. The toilet didn't work once but it was fixed right away. The windows and screens are pretty bad though, they don't fit well and have lots of holes. The repair guy is overly nice and really enjoys his job and will help you learn how to do things yourself. he also lives in the complex so he is easy to get a hold of, but you have to go through… See More>

                          Location, Location, Location

Well, I came upon this site and decided to do my fellow Aggies a service. I´ve been living at Sterling Pointe since September of 2003 (it´s Feb 2004). I´m going to be moving out next year, but it is a fault of my roommates and not of this apartment.

It is not, however, perfect. The thing about it is, though ... some of the problems we have, the rest of the complex does not. So I´m sure you´ll love your SP apartment if you´re not in #28 or #25 b/c our hot water lasts about 10 min in the shower, and so does the guy beneath ours, apparently. The staff (to be fair) tried to fix it last week and it´s still not working. Without a dishwasher, it´s not too sanitary to be washing your dishes in lukewarm water.

But like I said, not everyone at the complex has this problem.

The rent is a little high, and the rooms a little cramped if you share them (12x12 in 2 bedroom.) This mostly comes from having a balcony in each bedroom, although some apartments have a larger balcony that opens into the kitchen. (I wish we had one of those; the smaller balconies… See More>

It´s OK, but WATCH your back

I lived here for a year. I had so many problems because of the construction to remodel the place. It is finally remodeled and it just switched owners but the remodeling they did was cheap. THe screen doors to the patios don´t fit, the parking in the left lot is incredibly cramped, and a few very minor things. Overall the apt is good, but when it came to money they were claiming I had owed money. Even without evidence on their books they threatened to report me for failing to pay rent. This was really crappy. There was no communication to me regarding a bogus number given to me, and they wouldn´t do ANYTHING to find out the number. The person living on the complex was the most helpful (londi) but she couldn´t fix the problem.
Make sure you keep everything you give them, make sure you have the dates, and don´t let them push you around like they did me.

After three years in college, 1 in dorm, and two in other apt complexes, i was sorry to graduate because i had to leave this place.
what a great place.. such a great location and large apt for so cheap.
didn´t have any bug problems and the manager was great.. although i think the manager changed after we left.
the only minus was the fact that the laundry closed after 9pm and i don´t know about you but i´m a midnight launderess.
