Resident 2007

9/27/2007

Evidently, the staff here are mostly temps and they are trained (poorly) by -----, a TERRIBLE manager who is incredibly rude and has tons of power trips (like shutting off people's internet to make them come talk to her). Here are a list of things you should consider before moving in: -None of the staff lives on property but they say it is the nicest place to live in Davis. -----, the apartment manager lives downtown. Others live in Sac and other places in Davis. -There are no good reviews on the davis wiki site. none. -The management is rude and unresponsive and there is NOTHING a resident can do about it other than complain to the rude and unresponsive management -Management is incompetent and takes weeks to do what other apartment complexes could do in fifteen minutes. They lose papers and lie about it unless you have some sort of electronic receipt of sending them. -All of the auto mechanic Wyotech students are housed in the complex. These students are all placed with Davis students in the 'room mate matching' program. They study cars, and bring in their motorcycles to tune them inside of their apartments. In a room mate matching program that means you have the guy next door revving his motorcycle engine in the living room. -Police logs show a lot of crime in that area (has to be from the apartment since there is no other residential areas besides a senior citizen home) -Wyotech students purportedly are responsible for the muggings and car thefts that occur on premises. -PARKING!!! each APARTMENT gets ONE tandem parking spot. This means it is one spot that two cars can park in one in front of the other. When you tour they always imply that parking shouldn't be a problem but then you live there and find that all of your roommates have cars and you need to purchase three covered parking spots at $40 a MONTH each. That is $120 extra per month! -They make a big deal out of having a tanning bed but in all actuality it is an empty room with UV bulbs. No wonder they don't open the room and show you when you tour -The 'executive suites' advertised are nothing more than the mini unit showroom that they use for meetings and tours. They make it sound as if they have an entire furnished apartment somewhere for parents to come stay but it is actually just a little box of a place next to the exercise rooms. -The hot tub is kept lukewarm at a temperature that surely promotes bacteria growth in an already filthy tub. There is broken glass in it and the pool and people vomit all the time (what do you expect when your slogan is "rock on at university village?" -The rooms are almost never ready when they are supposed to be. I have spoken with several people who have been homeless for weeks while waiting for UV to let them move in. They have ONE person who cleans the apartments and refuse to get another to get rooms ready in a timely fashion (or ready by the promised time) -Whenever they make any sort of mistake they become hostile and defensive and just try to blame the problem on you. I heard of a girl that had her locks changed on her without notice and was locked out of her room for a day. When she went to tell ----- she smugly said something like "The key is in the mail and it is your responsibility to check it." There was no apology whatsoever. -I have never even heard of people behaving like this in a business situation, or any situation for that matter. ----- is the leader of the office and sets a terrible tone based on profits and nothing else. I don't think she would care if everyone in the complex died as long as she kept her job (which she feels very comfortable in and obviously feels she can do anything without the risk of getting fired) You might think that the place looks really nice during the tours but it is AWFUL and not worth the hassle!!!!!!!!!! -Lastly, they really do take advantage of foreign students. They tour them and make it sound like there is a terrible housing shortage in Davis (not true- usually apartments are at about 80% capacity). Then they make it sound like it is really hard to have a year lease and try to get the student to rent month to month for about $250 extra a month. This is ridiculous and overpriced. Many of these students are from economically disadvantaged countries and it is not fair to them to rip them off like that. They rent there rooms out to them for $850 or so a month. A ROOM! Plus, they get the foreign students to rent out furniture for even more and shove them in with Wyotech students who drink all day and rev engines in the apartment while playing loud music the entire apartment can hear.
