I lived here for about 2 years. im a mid 30s 'blue collar' worker. I am not one of these stay up all night blasting techno music all night people. This place is good, one of things I liked is its up on a hill off encinitas blvd so you dont get traffic noise unless you are in the building near the 5. the place is old but so is the entire area. the rent is decent, pricey but hey, youre not even a mile from the beach and any store/food u need.
I did my laundry at a laundo-mat because the ones their were small and always used.
The ONE time I went into the pool the water felt 'scumy' like it hasnt been cleaned/chlorined properly. but the beach is right there along with the Y.
Luckily our neighbors werent party people so noise wasnt an issue HOWEVER you will hear your neighbors say, if they are watching a movie loud or loud music. There must be no insulation between apartments. a few times you can hear talking. its basically drywall to drywall with no insulation between walls. I could hear my roommate in his room. Paper thin is the word im looking for.
No AC. duh. each room has a inwall heater.
Basically its a cheap place to live if its you or you and one more person. If we could find a third roommate we wanted to live with we would of got a house.
The staff was fine, never had any issues. Parking is an issue. You get one space per apt (im sure you can rent another one?) but you get one space. so if its two people with cars the other would have to park in the common area parking. ... and it could be a brisk walk to your place. id live there again if i had to. they do month to month (last i was there) which was good for me.
the bathroom is small and basic. no frills. water was always hot (a friend in another building said sometimes there would be not hot water in the morning). kitchen is ok. I have seen them make changes when someone moves out...new carpet, paint etc. they keep the place up, basically like a hotel. It would take whoever OWNS the property to actually overhaul the apartments how some people have said needs to be done - which will lead to higher rent.
