Resident 2010 - 2011

6/3/2015

Well, my ex-husband & I moved here when we got married in 2010. The place was nice, nothing fancy (outdated appliances & bathroom furnishings), but fit our needs & our budget. Our rent was a lot lower here than at other apartment complexes in the area, & we liked that it was gated. Our experience with the property manager was extremely poor, (racist remarks), but when I called the property management company who ran the complex, she was very promptly fired & replaced, and we received our first & last month's rent free. The new property manager was so nice, but old, slow, and not extremely helpful. However, there wasn't much we ever needed help with, so: not a huge deal. Let me just say, I was raised by a complete neat-freak (thanks Mom!), so I am extremely organized, neat, and LOVE to have everything spotlessly clean. I do not tolerate filth or uncleanliness. My apartment was kept more or less immaculate. Now let me get to the BIGGEST downside of alllll time with this place... the BUGS. Bugs, bugs, bugs, everywhere you look. I had to check my shower every single morning for spiders, & EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. there were 1-2 daddy long legs shacking up in my shower. The shower I used EVERY DAY. and cleaned once a week with bleach & soap. I am not a paranoid arachnophobe, but it was to the point where I had a panic attack once because 2 spiders appeared out of nowhere right AFTER i spent a half an hour scrubbing down the bathroom. I am assuming they crawled up out of the sink & shower drains, but still .. WTF. The pool was disgusting, I never used it. The laundry facilities were less than wonderful, and also .. FILLED with bugs: weird looking beetles, huge dragonflies, more spiders, etc. My ex-husband had to take over laundry duties after a month of me running back from the laundry room in tears with my bags full of still-dirty laundry. Parking was not a problem, but I think we just got lucky that our assigned spot was basically next to our apartment. I used to have my sisters or my parents over for dinner or a movie at least 3 times a week, & they never had a problem finding parking just as close as my spot. I love that this gated complex has 2 gates, so 2 entrances, making it convenient to people who live on one side of the complex or the other. I can honestly say that MINUS the BUGS, this was a very nice apartment complex to live in. Again, the appliances & fixtures are OLD. But they work perfectly fine. My rent for a (very spacious!) one-bedroom, one-bathroom was under $900/month back then. Very affordable. We moved out when our year lease was up because we bought our own house in Vacaville. I wouldn't live here again just because the bugs were really that terrible, (but that's just me), it caused me a lot of anxiety, & I don't think I could go back to living in that constant state of fear, LOL!
